Bugs, Benches, and Beauty – Silksong in Pictures

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

I am happy to announce that I completed Hollow Knight: Silksong yesterday. It was an amazing journey. After 60 hours of countless deaths, surprises, boss fights, and weird bugs, it is one of the best experiences of gaming for me. When I said I completed the game, I meant I saw the credits and got to an ending. But I have no clue if there are multiple endings or hidden bosses, so I will still keep exploring.

While I was exploring the lands of Farloom in Silksong, I collected a lot of memories. I captured many of them as shots to be used for my wallpaper and to be shared with you.

You know that you have unlocked all the regions in the map when you get a side quest from Shakra, the cartographer lady who is in search of her master in these lands. I liked the interaction with her and finding her master body in a secluded place. She died peacefully here. We sang a song in her memory, and it was a very memorable experience.

Just like the first game, this one also has a lot of optional boss fights. Some of them are very challenging. The way you start these battles is interesting, too.

Hornet feels better as she gains more abilities, and at the end, everything comes together to make her an agile bug capable of destructive powers.

The visuals are much better in this one. The world has grown a lot, and it feels twice as big as the Hallownest from the first game. There are a lot more benches, too, each with its own style and blending well into the surroundings, unlike the first game, which had a lot of generic benches placed all over the map with just a few exceptions.

Nothing feels out of place. Each room is filled with hand-drawn assets and beautiful particle effects, along with a great sound design. So, in the audio and visual department, the game is almost perfect.

The animation quality has increased a lot, too. There are a lot of NPCs and bosses with unique animations and sound design. All of which seems to have been perfected over the past few years of development. It took a lot of time to come out, but I think it was worth the wait.

Doubling the scale of the world is not an easy thing to do. They had to come up with new mechanics, making each section feel different from the other. And for a game with like 30 different areas, designing all of them to have unique visuals is very tough. They did well for the most part. Apart from a couple of confusing ones, most of them are unique and can be differentiated with just one screenshot.

You can see how each shot looks like it has its own colour theme, backgrounds, lighting, foreground elements, etc.

I love this next shot from Far-Fields, where the embers are coming out of this stone statue's eyes. Such a cool section, too, where the lava rises and you have to get out of there in a hurry.

There are a lot more NPCs compared to the first game. I was hoping to find more about the Lifeblood masks, and they took care of it in this game. There is a scientist bug who is researching them.

Such a beautiful game to experience. They recently patched a few bugs and decreased the difficulty of a few bosses, too, so it should be a better experience even for casual players or those who haven't played the first one. It is a must-play game in my opinion.

Thanks for reading.

Until next shot...
