MONOMAD WEDNESDAY "STREET PHOTOGRAPHY"
Hello Hive Community.
I hope you all are fine. I am also fine here. This is my entry for the #monomad challenge July 8th. After a week, I am making a post today in the #monomad community. In today's post, I have presented you with a street photograph captured during a visit to the beautiful city of Brussels, Belgium, in black and white.
Above, I have presented two photographs, in which the park seen in the first photograph is Parc du Cinquantenaire. Parc du Cinquantenaire means "Park of the fiftieth anniversary". This park is one of the most beautiful and important parks in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. This park is located in the eastern part of the city. And is a popular place for tourists and locals to relax, exercise, or enjoy nature and history. While the statue seen in the second photograph is located in Parc du Cinquantenaire, which many visitors like to see and take photographs with.
The building seen in the first photograph of the two photographs above is The Brussels Town Hall. The Brussels Town Hall is one of the most beautiful and important buildings in the city of Brussels, Belgium. The Town Hall stands proudly in the central square of the city, Grand Place. And is a famous symbol of the rich history, architecture and culture of Brussels. The history of The Brussels Town Hall is very old. It is said that the Brussels Town Hall was built in the 15th century. This Town Hall was used to serve as a government building. This is where the leaders and officials of the city met and worked. Even today, the Town Hall is used for official events, special guest receptions and important meetings.
Above I have presented you with four photographs in which people are riding Segways. Segways are a special type of electric vehicle. Which helps people move around easily. This vehicle has two wheels, a platform to stand on and a handlebar to hold. Segways are widely used by people in cities and parks. A Segway is a self-balancing scooter. This means that the device uses special sensors and motors to balance itself to stay upright. When a person leans forward, the Segway moves forward. When they lean back, it slows down or reverses. To turn, the person moves the handlebars left or right. Segways are quite easy to use and can be easily learned to ride.
The two photographs above are of the Parc du Cinquantenaire. The Parc du Cinquantenaire was built at the end of the 19th century to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Belgium's independence. Belgium became an independent country in 1830. And 50 years later, in 1880, the government decided to create a large park to mark the occasion. The park was first used for a large exhibition showcasing Belgium's progress in industry, science and culture. The above is now history. But Parc du Cinquantenaire is a place for people of all ages. Families come to play with their children. While young people come here to enjoy outdoor sports and yoga. And older people visit the park for a quiet walk. What makes Parc du Cinquantenaire special is that it combines beauty, history and culture in one place. Despite being a relaxing and peaceful place in the middle of a busy city, the park reminds people of Belgium's past.
The photographs above are of the Town Hall. Which I captured from a distance. Now that the photos have been taken, let me talk a little about the Town Hall. As I told you above, the Brussels Town Hall is the most famous building on the Grand Place. The Town Hall has also been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The square is surrounded by historic buildings. And is considered one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. Every two years in August, the Grand Place is covered with a huge flower carpet made of colorful begonias. Thousands of tourists visit the square during this event. And the Town Hall becomes the backdrop for lights, music and celebrations. The Town Hall is also lit up during Christmas and national holidays. Which makes it a magical place to visit at any time of the year.
The statue in the second photograph of the two photographs above depicts two famous literary characters, Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. They are the main characters of the famous Spanish novel Don Quixote, written by Miguel de Cervantes in the early 1600s. Don Quixote is a tall, thin man who dreams of becoming a knight. He reads so many stories about knights and battles that he thinks he is one himself. While Sancho Panza is his little funny and loyal assistant. He rides a donkey and follows Don Quixote on his adventures. The two characters are very different, but they become great friends.
In today's post I had the opportunity to talk about the history of Brussels with photographers. I was very happy to make today's post. I hope that my post will be accepted for the #monomad challenge july 8th.
I sincerely thank you for visiting and reading my post.
Great photography
Thank you 🙏🙏
Your drawn photographs have brought alive the beauty of Brussels. Parks, historical buildings and sculptures, especially, looked very attractive and informative. Every picture has a story, and your writing has made it even more meaningful. The spirit and dedication you have made this post is clearly visible. Very beautiful and commendable effort.
Lovely photographs and nice to know about Segways. First time Iam hearing about this electric vehicle. This is very much needed in our country also especially in the metro cities like Mimbai and Calcutta where commuting has become difficult.
Great shots!!!
