Not TikTokety Boo
TikTok – or should it be referred to as TikToxic???? Yes, it’s catchy, but at the moment, it’s a sad reality. This social media platform that took the world by storm – especially during lockdown – has become a foetid and toxic environment.
And it’s dragged Ben and I down for far too long now...Changes must be made!
So we sat down earlier this week in order to have and in depth and frank discussion about where to go with this, and suddenly the answer became clear. Here. Here is where we go.
Hive has always been our go-to platform for positivity, high vibrational, energetic discourse and sharing – which is why we share our adventures here – thank you, fellow Hiveans (and PeakDians, Leonians, and everyone else we can think of) so why not expand on this a little more, and at the same time, shake off the negativity that (Ben especially) has been growing whilst engaging on TikTok. To be fair, I gave up a while ago, as I couldn’t cope with it anymore. Ben had more sticking power, lol! 🤣
But even he has his limits, and to be fair, a breaking point – which has been well and truly tested over the past week. So we both agreed that enough was enough. So what was the straw that broke the camels back, you ask? Well, it was a post about a new Ford eTransit, which we fully charged at the low, low price of £4.50, giving us a range of between 169 and 209 miles (depending on the weather).
What’s not to love? We posted it as an update regarding our latest review vehicle, and the amount of vitriol was saddening. At the last look, there were sixty six negative comments and counting.
So we asked ourselves why didn’t we just increase the amount of posts we put out here instead of there…
As this has always been such an inclusive platform, it really was a no brainer. So we’ve started increasing our posts about the whacky world of all things automotive, and so we have begun.
Hopefully we will entertain and amuse you with our added content, and hope to chat with you all some more as the days and weeks progress. Is there anything you would like us to talk about? Maybe you would like to share your experiences with TikTok Or maybe not...🤢)
In regards to Hive, we’ve bought some more Hive with our HBD and we’ve powered up to increase our vote, and delegate. It now looks like we are in a Bull Market – leaving the Bear behind for – hopefully – quite a while (see what we did there…tee hee)
P.S. Does anyone know if the 3Speak Apple App actually works? Answers on a postcard… We’ve been trying to get it to work, but no luck at present. We’re looking to upload some video content this way, as well as sharing our YouTube Reviews that we know you all love.

Screw that toxic Chinese crap! It’s a really dangerous platform to be on for a lot of reasons and it’s intentionally messing with westerners psyche in my opinion. What we’ve been told is that the Chinese version is night and day different compared to the garbage that we see as people outside of China on that platform.
My wife wanted to use it and I vehemently told her absolutely not. I’m sticking to my guns when it comes to leaving that cesspool out of our mix!
I’m glad you guys are enjoying hive a lot more - it’s a far cry better than those other platforms.
What I would also say with Tok is that the comments and content is largely AI garbage and bots so don’t take it too personally. Focus your efforts here instead!

Thank you, yes we heard the algo was tailored to the West in a not beneficial way, the sad thing is the comments were real explaining how they'd had diesels etc etc, EV's are especially vilified on there. We literally felt a weight lift after we decided :) Yes it made perfect sense to buy just before it rockets, and it's great to give back to deserving creators.
Yeah I respect your need and desire to explore all aspects of the car market. I personally dislike EV's for various philosophical reasons and the fact that a hybrid is more sensible than an EV ever will be. I believe it's the freedom of choice: I choose to keep my petrol car while others choose to get an EV.
It indeed will get on up there at some point! The important thing is to keep building now as well as then, because it's a great time all the time to build things like this while we can!

We believe that there is a place for all powertrains - for example, if we had a Seat Mii as a second car, it would be a complete no brainer for us, as it's range would cover everything we needed to do locally, and would cost next to nothing to charge (thanks to our Type 2 charger) Do like your point about Hybrids though, as it is the actual definition of the best of both, and is the perfect stepping stone towards EV.

China manufactures a lot of EVs, I think? May be something to do with that ...
Good point, @shanibeer - You'd think so in this case, but no - they seem to be attacking Ford. China and Korea's EV's are now the best in the world, even though there's a lot of pushback against China run/owned things, and most of the American people want to buy them (especially BYD) Not so with the American government, with the level of taxation they've set. It's a pickle, that's for sure.

I've never used Tiktok and it seems I made a good choice. I have given up on centralised corporate platforms as they tend to disappoint. Google shut down theirs (Google+, Orkut etc), Twtr turned to crap recently and others died. I only use FB to stay in touch with some people.
When I saw Hive (in the old incarnation) I could see that it had some future as it could not easily be killed off. I am only disappointed that it has not grown more, but then it has no marketing department and many people are wary of anything to do with cryptocurrency. I hope that can change. If you are promoting Hive then I can create free accounts for anyone who needs them. You may be able to claim account creation tokens too as it depends on your HP.
3speak seems to have upload issues for now. I hope they can fix it and make the platform more stable as it offers a nice alternative to Youtube.
I really enjoy your posts and I think there ought to be a bigger audience for them here. That is why I promote them. I am happy that your Hive experience has been good. It is a bit wild west here and so we are not immune to to trolls, but they seem fairly rare for now.

Thank you for your support - and your kind words, @steevc, it's very much appreciated. We agree with you that it's a real pity that the value of it isn't higher, as it really does deserve to be. Years ago - when it was higher - we converted two high performing posts to GBP in order to upgrade our filming equipment, and it was one of the best decisions we ever made, and since then, all we've done is keep it on the platform, and of course, give back!
Like you, we are looking upward and onward towards the day when Hive's value is way up there.

But the algorithm learned that I like raging, controversial and kinda pessimistic videos. Yes, I do enjoy those - that's how our brain works - but only for a limited time.
Instead the algorithm never stops to feed you that content, and you end to get caught into a downward spiral of the same bad content that unconsciously keeps you engaged but ruins your liver at the same time. Luckily I'm able to notice when it's harming me and shut it down. Too bad I have to use it for my music career, so I can't erase it for now...

The thing is with music, it's very marmite in nature. Whereas with a vehicle, everything is up for debate - the manufacturer, the powertrain, the audience (e.g. Honda Jazz is stereotyped as "The Pensioners Car" for absolutely no reason whatsoever) and if by some chance it's an older brand now owned by a company from a different country, it can really stir things up, even if the cars are really well made and good value for money (and keep getting better)
Glad your built-in early warning system lets you know before you get too far down the rabbit hole, it's not an easy thing to build up, is it?
