New MG S5 Review & 1000 Mile Road Trip Part One
For quite a while now, SUV’s have been the saving grace of automotive companies, and MG is well known for this. Resurrected a number of years ago by the Chinese company SAIC, MG returned to the UK market with SUV’s. Since their relaunch, they have gone from strength to strength, giving us some fantastic cars to boot (see what I did there, lol!)
Now, Chinese owned and operated cars aren’t for everyone’s taste, but what cannot be denied is their impact. They are arguably the front runners for the huge leaps of innovations we’ve seen in fully electric vehicles over the last five years, as for the first time, BYD cars outsold Tesla in Europe.
So what’s different about their new S5? For a start, it’s their replacement for the MG5, their fully electric estate car AS WELL as the replacement for their ZS EV, which has also been discontinued. Also, it’s been built using their MEP platform used to create their award winning MG4, meaning you get the dynamic driving experience of their all electric hatchback combined with the space and presence you’ve come to expect of the ZS EV.
The S5 comes in two trims – par the course with recent MG’s – the SE and the Trophy:
SE Standard Range – fitted with a 49kWh battery which offers up to 211 miles of range and costs from £28,745.00 on the road
SE Long Range – fitted with a 64kWh battery which offers up to 298 miles of range and costs from £31,245.00 on the road
The Trophy Long Range – fitted with only one choice of battery size – 64kWh - which offers up to 288 miles of range and costs from £33,745.00 on the road.
Join us as we get behind the wheel, and enjoy our 1,000 mile road trip part 1 too!
Thank you all, and enjoy!

Looks like a practical car. MG seem to be producing sensible vehicles and I see a lot around. Quite a few BYD appearing here too.
MG has bad reputation in Mexico. Breaking down, not enough parts for maintenance or change when there is a crash or needed.
Other Chinese like BYD has been taking good part of the market and giving better service and maintenance.
