New Ford Ranger 2025 | A pickup with prowess

Hurrah! The next gen Ford Ranger has arrived 😊 As many of you know, we have a real soft spot for pickups here at Planetauto.
Now the Ranger is a bit of a legend in its own right, and it’s even won the International Pickup Award no less than three times, so when we got the chance to get behind the wheel of the latest Ranger, well, we were delighted.

For a number of reasons we’ve waited many moons to review this, so a jaunt up to Oxen Park for some green laning seemed the only thing to do!

There is lots of versatility when it comes to trims, and the best-selling Ranger is the Wildtrak, which is the one we have here – it’s powered by a 3L TD V6 engine, and it can carry a tonne on the bed, and tow up to 3,500 kg – although not at the same time! The other powertrains are a 2L TD and a 2.3L TIVCT.

It’s also a double cab, so there’s plenty of space for whatever you need to do. And whilst most new pickups are more comfy, with tech and safety that’s more like a modern car, the new Ranger takes this up a notch or two, as it’s got lots of it, including a black leather interior, SatNav, smartphone connectivity and a 360° camera too.

A really nice touch are the plugs, meaning you can charge and/or use tools when you are out and about. Ford have even added a bottle opener to the tailgate, along with clamp pockets and cupholders – a travelling workbench, if you will.

So what trims are available?
XL – Basic but tough: from £28,550 plus VAT
XLT – Adds some creature comforts: from £32,150 plus VAT
Tremor – Off-road ready, bold but understated: from £35,550 plus VAT
Wildtrak – The one everyone wants: from £40,350 plus VAT
Wildtrak X – Even more off-road capability: from £42,350 plus VAT
MS-RT – Motorsport-inspired: from £50,800 plus VAT
Platinum – For the ultimate in luxury: from £47,950 plus VAT
Stormtrak – Sporty, stylish, and loaded with features: from £49,800 plus VAT

So, if you’ve been waiting (like us) for the new-gen Ranger to arrive—guess what? It was worth it. Time to hit the road (or the trails) and see what this beast can really do!

Thank you all, and enjoy!
Annabelle 😊
