New BYD Sealion 7 | The Ultimate SUV?

Aaaaaaaand, here it is! Our first look at the Sealion 7 from BYD.

As mentioned in our previous post, Ben and I were invited to the official UK launch last week, and having had chance to get a closer look, we can definitely say that it offers a lot of car for the money.

Now...yes, BYD are a Chinese brand, but when you have a look back at their history, they've been making electric cars since 2008, and although their passenger vehicles didn't launch in the UK until 2023, their EV's are everywhere - think London buses for one...it's why they've been branded the biggest car manufacturer you've never heard of. Also, one in every two smartphone batteries in the UK are made by them, so it seems they know a thing or two about batteries for electric devices.

Exciting as it was to attend the launch event - and it was certainly a high level event - for us the main event was the chance to get behind the wheel and see for ourselves what the Sealion 7 was all about.

First things first - it's flippin fast, with a 0-62 in 4.5 seconds (or faster) and we can attest to this, as we did a test launch in it, and it really is fast. Mind you, it's an EV! And even though it's a large SUV, it feels nimble and agile. Whilst driving it, I found it to be very smooth.
