BYD Seal U Review | The Best Hybrid SUV?

We love all kinds of cars here at Planetauto, yet one type I feel has been very much overlooked these past years is the hybrid.

This is BYD’s hybrid version of the Seal: the Seal U, and – depending on which Trim you choose – offers a range of up to 700 miles. Impressive, no? Whilst we first saw this last Autumn, we got the chance to have it on review not too long ago, and let me tell you – it’s as impressive in more ways than just the range.

All trims – of which there are three – are fitted with the same level of Tech & Safety. So what does this mean? So, Safety first, all trims have:
• Adaptive Cruise Control
• Lane Keep Assist (LKA)
• Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB)
• Blind Spot Detection
• 360° Camera

It already has a lot of Tech – electrically operated drivers seat, an Infotainment system, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity – the list goes on – the interesting thing is that the Seal U also comes with Tech such as a Heads Up Display (HUD) To have such a feature on the starter trim at a price just over £33K is amazing, to be honest.

And if you don’t see what all the fuss is about regarding HUD’s try one out for yourself. They keep your eyes on the road – invaluable in today’s world where there are average speed zones and speed traps EVERYWHERE.

So there really is a lot to love about this Seal U Hybrid – and BYD in general. There’s a reason that BYD have outsold Tesla in Europe for the first time ever. So join us as we get behind the wheel and taker a closer look, and if you go and test drive one, please come back and let us know what you thought.

Thank you all, and enjoy!
Annabelle 😊
