Let's make ~ Fried Red Sausages (Thai Style)

Hello, everyone! 🙏

  • Today, I have another recipe to share with you all. It's a snack I made for my kids in the afternoon. The main ingredient is sausage; this type here is called "Red Sausage." There are several ways to cook it. Normally, if I fry them, I just put them directly into hot oil. But today, I tried a new frying method I saw on social media. It looked very interesting, because I dip them in a thin batter first, and I also added coconut milk to the batter mix. The result was more delicious than I expected, and it's very easy to make! 😊

RECIPE : Fried Red Sausages

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams Red Sausages
  • 120 grams Tempura Flour (or Crispy Frying Flour/Mix)
  • 80 grams Coconut Milk
  • 500 grams Water
  • 1 Chicken Egg
  • 1 Tablespoon Seasoning Powder
  • Vegetable Oil for Frying

INSTRUCTIONS

Prepare the Red Sausages

  • Each sausage piece is wrapped in a thin plastic casing(leaving the two ends open). My easy method to remove the plastic is to soak the sausages in water for about 2 minutes. Then, gently squeeze one end. Just like that, the sausage will slip out easily. Once done, place them on a rack to drain.

Prepare the Frying Batter

  • Prepare a mixing bowl.Add the water and coconut milk.

  • Add the crispy frying flour and the seasoning powder. Mix well.

  • Crack the egg into the bowl.I use both the yolk and the white.

  • Mix everything together until well combined.I will get a thin, liquid batter like this.

  • Put the prepared sausages into the batter.Meanwhile, place a pan on the stove over medium heat, add vegetables oil, and let it heat up.

  • Once the oil is hot,use a strainer or slotted spoon to scoop up the sausages from the batter and carefully lower them into the hot oil to fry. (I divided the 500g of sausages into 2 batches for frying so the pan isn't too crowded and they have space to puff up.)

  • Scoop some of the remaining batter and drizzle it over the frying sausages to coat them evenly.

  • Gently stir them so the batter coats the sausages. Keep stirring throughout this stage.By now, the sausages will start to puff up, and the drizzled batter will start to cook and stick to them.

  • Fry until the coating is golden yellow.

  • Then remove and drain on a rack to let the excess oil drip off.

Serving

  • Arrange on a plate. Enjoy hot with dipping sauce or your favorite condiment!

  • This recipe results in sausages that are not oily. The inside of the sausage remains tender, while the outside is very crispy. It stays crispy even hours later! It's perfect as an appetizer or a fun snack between meals.

  • So, what do you think of my new way of frying sausages? I hope you found this post useful. Thanks for stopping by, and see you next time.. BYE~ 🤗

That drizzle with the leftover batter is such a smart move for extra crunchy bits. The coconut milk twist sounds like it adds a light sweetness and a nicer bite inside, though in my house they wouldn’t survive long enough to test the crunch later. What dip do your kids prefer, sweet chili or something tangy?

This frying method gives an excellent texture and flavor. The dipping sauce is sweet, salty, a little sour, and a little spicy. Here, we often eat it with fried sausages; they go very well together... Thanks for visiting. 😍❤️

That sweet-salty-sour-spicy mix sounds perfect, no wonder it clicks with the crunch. Do you make the sauce at home? If so, could you share a quick ratio for fish sauce, sugar, chili, and the sour part, and do you use lime or tamarind? I’m stealing that leftover-batter drizzle trick too.
