The business I admire so much but couldn't do it

Hello my Hive Naija family,

This topic na serious one o, because it really made me sit down and think well. To be honest, there are many businesses people are doing today that I now admire, but I never thought I would ever admire them before. One of them is waste recycling and waste collection business.

I know say some people go surprise, but that’s the truth. Before now, if I see someone doing that kind of business especially those people that pack used plastic, nylons, bottles, and all those dirty things I used to feel somehow. In fact, I used to think they were suffering or doing it just to survive because of poverty. I no go lie, I didn’t admire it at all.

But as I grew older and started understanding business, value and sustainability, my eyes open. I began to see how these people are not just picking waste they are creating something meaningful from what others throw away. I watched videos and read stories of people turning plastic bottles to money, people collecting old cartons and nylon to sell and earn daily income, and even some who started waste companies from that same hustle.

In fact, one lady I read about in Nigeria turned her waste business into a company and started employing people. She even got international recognition. That’s when I started respecting that kind of work. E shock me.

Even though I now admire the people doing it and the value they bring to the environment and society, I no go lie I may never try that business. The truth is, it’s not easy. I don’t like being around dirty or waste, and I know myself. That kind of business needs passion, strength, and serious determination. I prefer neat and digital kind of business, like sales, freelancing, or anything I can do with my phone or laptop. But I will always respect those that have the heart to do it.

This experience has taught me that no business is too small or dirty, as long as you’re doing it with integrity and making impact. I’ve learned to remove pride from my eyes when I see people working hard, even in places society calls "dirty jobs." Na dem dey clean the environment and still make money from it. What else is business supposed to be about.

So yes, that’s one business I now admire deeply, but I know I no go fit do am. I give full respect to everyone in that line of work.

Thanks for reading my thoughts. I’d love to know is there a business you now respect but know you can never try?
