Balancing Motherhood And Freelancing: My Struggle, Lessons, And Little Victories

avatar

Hello everyone,

After sharing my introduction on Hive, I thought it would be good to talk about something that has shaped my daily life and pushed me to grow stronger trying to balance being a mother and a freelancer. It’s not been easy, but I’ve come a long way, and I want to share my journey with you.

I’m a proud mom of three amazing kids one girl and twin boys. They are full of energy, and sometimes I wonder how I manage to stay sane. 😂 Being a mom is already a full-time job on its own, and adding freelancing on top of it wasn’t something I planned it just became a path I had to take after life changed for me.

I’ve been in the networking business for years 13 years to be exact. I worked hard, attended events, built teams, but at some point, it felt like I was just going in circles without real growth or reward. When my husband left, I had no choice but to look for something more stable to support myself and my children.

That was when I found freelancing. A friend introduced me to Fiverr, and I created an account. But let me be honest it took 8 months before I made my first $50. There were many days I almost gave up. Sometimes I would wake up early before the kids or stay up late just to learn, send proposals, or try new things. But I didn’t stop. That first $50 felt like a huge breakthrough it reminded me that slow progress is still progress.

The biggest challenge I face every day is time management. My twins are very active, and if I blink for too long, they’ve already climbed the table or spilled something. So I had to learn how to plan my time. I started using early mornings and late nights to work. I also learned to forgive myself when I couldn’t meet my own deadlines because sometimes, family just has to come first.

Another thing I’ve learned is to stay consistent even when it feels like nothing is happening. When I wasn’t getting orders on Fiverr, I kept showing up. I kept editing my gigs, learning new skills, and even offering help for free sometimes just to gain experience and reviews. I used every small win to fuel me. One good message from a client could brighten my whole day.

I’ve also grown in my communication skills, something I didn’t even know I was good at until I started chatting with clients. I now believe every challenge we face in life prepares us for something better.

Now, even though I’m still learning and growing, I feel proud of how far I’ve come. I don’t have it all figured out yet, but I’m making steady progress. My dream is to become a Level 2 seller on Fiverr, and I know I’ll get there with hard work and God on my side.

To every mother out there trying to build something for herself while raising children, I just want to say: Don’t give up. You’re not lazy, you’re not behind, and you’re not alone. Every little effort counts.

Thanks for reading my story. I hope it encourages someone today. Please feel free to drop a comment I’d love to connect and learn from others here on Hive.

Much love,
Pixelrise01
