Reviewing Original Entries from Vibes Week 34 Music Competition

Hello Vibes community! I hope you’re all doing well and staying creative.

Week 35 is here, and the theme is about Techno and EDM , a call to rhythm, movement, and energy. From what I’ve seen so far, the entries have been impressive, each one adding its own unique signature to the theme

For this week’s review, after listening to a few early submissions that caught my attention, I decided to focus on entries that featured original songs. You know, there’s something special about hearing music that comes straight from the artist’s own heart and mind, it gives us a deeper connection to their thoughts, emotions, and creative voice.

Of course, the week isn’t over yet, and I’m really looking forward to hearing more amazing music as the entries continue to roll in.

The first on my list is Only One Way by @verbal-d

VERBAL-D’s song “ONLY ONE WAY” is a powerful mix of deep emotions and strong rhythm. Even though it’s a rap song, it fits this week’s Techno and EDM theme because it carries the energy, repetition, and movement you’d expect from electronic music.

He raps with passion, using his hands, body and facial expressions to show how much the words mean to him. His delivery is smooth and clear.
And the lyrics are full of feeling. He talks about love, pain, and hope in a way that’s honest and poetic.

His entry shows his deep understanding of music and what is expected in the prompt.

The second on my list is @raymondelaparra 's original song This Love Has Not Been in Vain.

It is another wonderful performance. His baritone voice is so soothing to listen to, and the lyrics are pure and full of emotional depth. It's a lovely song that could easily be used for wedding anniversaries or other meaningful friendship celebrations. His guitar adds a subtle layer of emotion to his voice, and they blended so perfectly together.

I have to comment on his vocals again because I enjoyed every moment, even though I didn’t understand a single word. Still, I was moved by the soul of the song. That’s the power of music. You don’t always need to know the language to feel the energy.
I also appreciate the simplicity and honesty in his entry; just him and his guitar, nothing extra, just pure emotion💯.

Then the last but not the least is @bigsteff entry with his original song Don't Treat Me Mercilessly.

His song, as always, was very touching. To me, it felt like a heartfelt cry , a prayer in melody. You can feel the emotion in every beat, and the way he used his body language and facial expressions added more life to the performance.

I also paid attention to the lyrics, because to me, that’s what matters most. I always want to hear and understand the message the artist is trying to communicate. Because a song is something that is written from the heart.

“They said I wouldn’t make it, I heard every lie…
But I kept my head high, tears still in my eyes.”

So many of us know what it’s like to be doubted, dismissed, even written off. It can be both hurtful and discouraging. But somehow, Bigsteff managed to include words of hope and encouragement, which balances the weight of the song beautifully.
Also, this is a gospel song, and I especially loved the imagery of being rooted in Christ, the Vine. There’s a refreshing sense of transformation throughout the piece from brokenness to purpose, all through grace. His message is very clear and comforting.

My Final Thoughts
So far, this week’s entries have shown how artists can take a theme and make it their own, whether through rap, soul-stirring vocals, or instrumental performances. Each one has brought something good and meaningful. I'm excited to see what the remaining artists will bring before the week wraps up.
So to everyone who’s already shared, thank you for the music and the emotion. And to those still cooking up something, we can’t wait to hear what you’ve got.

Keep up the good work and more grace to achieve greater heights.
I wish y'all a wonderful weekend 💝
