Newbies Initiative Task 10 — Reflecting On Goals And Feedback

Hello, Hivers and friends! Happy New Year to you all!

This is my first post in 2024, I've been away for a while due to some reasons but this post is however a good one to begin the year with.

Looking back, 2023 was a transformative year for me. It's the year I discovered my strengths, my weaknesses, and how to navigate them. I learned and unlearned many things that helped build my character and therefore enabled me to surge through the challenges that I faced and at the same time recognize the opportunities that made that year a prosperous one for me.

Being part of the newbie initiatives had a huge impact on my social achievements in 2023. Before joining the program, I was struggling with my social skills on Hive.
I'm not naturally the most socially outgoing person, so I faced challenges when it came to writing and connecting with others.
I was always afraid of being misunderstood because I couldn't find the right words, and I worried about being seen as socially awkward. But when I came across a post about this initiative, I saw it as a potential path to freedom, and I'm happy to say it didn't disappoint. The program helped me build strong relationships both on Hive and outside it.

This will be my final post from the newbie initiative as our three-month program has come to an end. It has been an incredible year filled with amazing experiences, engagement, and tons of Hive fun.
I want to give a shoutout to our awesome tutors: @nkemakonam89, @starstrings01, @vickoly, @depressedfuckup and our team leader @justfavour , together with all the newbies that were in the program. It was a limited opportunity to get to know all of them.

As I mentioned before, this is my last task for the initiative. I'll be reflecting on my achievements since joining the program and sharing my experiences, as well as offering suggestions for the growth of the initiative.

1)Go back to your task 1, check the goals you made and recount those goals, see how you have performed. Did you smash those goals? Tell us why and how.

At the beginning of this program, I set some smart hive goals that I believed were very achievable and realistic.
It was definitely but due to some unforeseen circumstances, I couldn't meet up with all of it. The fact that I was a bit sidetracked was very unintentional and some happened because I didn't give a proper thought before making decisions.

There were some things I did that prevented me from achieving my goals, one of them was distractions. I wasn't focused at some points and time management played serious tricks on me. I found it hard to balance my hive activities with that of school especially when we started writing spontaneous tests and term papers.

These are not excuses, I just found it necessary to analyze what I did wrong, adjust my approach, and use them as stepping stones for future growth and improvement

Checking the goals I made I have been able to achieve most of them. Like my followers (I didn't want to force myself to get them) so I got what I had planned and added ten more,(i.e. from 26 to 60).
Commenting and interacting came naturally and I've made way more comments than I ever thought I could. (from 442 to about 1487 comments).

Now, the goals that I wasn't able to achieve before were my HP (Hive Power) and reputation goals. I had planned to increase my HP from 65.208 to 425. Unfortunately, I only managed to raise it to 401.854 HP, which means I was 23.146 HP short.
so I converted my HBD to hive this morning and powered it up to meet my goal.

It was funny when I realized I couldn't do anything immediately to affect my reputation.

However, I've learned that our reputation is more than just the number. My main focus is to have a good legacy on hive as that number increases. My goal was to raise my reputation from 57 to 65 and I've only been able to make it up to 62 rep.

𝐷𝓲𝒅 𝐼 𝒔mα𝘴Ꮒ 𝒎y 𝘨𝓸𝚊𝗜𝑠?

Yes, I did.

My first step towards this was setting realistic goals, as our boss taught us to set smart goals. The second step was being very intentional about it and the last but not the least was making friends through writing and commenting (both on hive and discord, they added to my confidence to write and comment on their posts), and powering up frequently.

2)How was your experience in the newbies initiative, what do you have to say about it?

My experience in the newbie initiative was incredible. I had such an amazing time and learned so much. It was truly a fantastic opportunity and I will strongly recommend any newbie especially those without a strong mentor to find his/her way into the program.

During the course of the program, I learned what would have probably taken me more than 12 months to learn about hives. What I'm very appreciative of is the fact that we were exposed to the do's and don't of the blockchain, and showed the best way of making connections and how to earn and manage the blockchain tokens. These are all unforgettable experiences.

3) If you were to contribute one thing to make the newbies initiative perform better, what do you think you can do?

The initiative already is doing amazingly well, but if I had to contribute one thing to make the newbie's initiative even better, it would be providing each newbie with proper feedback on their published tasks. Pointing out areas they can improve on and what might be lacking in their posts, this would help those who unintentionally write low-quality content to improve over time. And, it would also encourage those who are already doing well to keep it up.

I am very grateful to every single person who has made an effort to see to the success of this program. May the good lord bless you❤️.

A big thank you to my newbie friends, who are now hive pros😉, you all are wonderful people.

Hello there, Phyna. Wow! You smashed your goals! You were so close to your HP goal. Even though you didn’t smash all your goals, don’t beat yourself out because you did really well.
