I See Happiness as a Journey

I see happiness as a journey. The little things that make us cheerful and look forward to the future are very important.
I can't postpone happiness until I have a better job, or until I'm wealthy. Instead, I strive to be happy as I'm approaching wealth. I celebrate my little wins as I grow and find joy in little things.
As a student now, I can't wait to graduate with a first class before I'm happy, I prefer celebrating the little success of passing exams each semester and moving from one level to another. Because looking at it not everyone is blessed with the opportunity to go to school even though they desire to.
The current situation in my country is very uncomfortable for ordinary citizens. There's hardship and a low level of security in our lives and assets. But I'm not looking at it as something that should bring extreme bitterness to our daily lives. I see it as an opportunity to learn how to adapt and persevere when things get tough. Because before now, I didn't know how to manage things properly. But as prices of things in the market went up day by day, my parents kept to the same amount of money they sent to me, I knew I had to start managing to avoid getting broke. It's difficult but I'm happy with myself because I have always wanted to learn to manage.
If happiness is a destination, that means we will simply overlook the good things that happened throughout our journey, and focus on being happy in the future. This to me is not proper, because one can still get all that he/she wants and remain unhappy with herself.
In conclusion, I see happiness as a journey, and that is finding peace and contentment in the present moment, rather than constantly chasing after a future destination.
It is the case of appreciating the small joys, like a warm cup of coffee in the morning or a good hang-out with friends. It's also about personal growth and self-acceptance, embracing who we are while striving to become the best version of ourselves.
This is my entry to this week's Hive Ghana community engagement.

The thing about seeing happiness as a journey is that you actually live to enjoy the present moment instead of waiting for future events(destination) that you are not even certain they would happen
