Beer Saturday: review of Prokopak Craft Brewery in Prague
Hey there my Hive friends and followers!
After some time, I´m excited to come with another contribution to one of the oldest and most popular regular initiatives here on Hive - the legendary Beer Saturday run by @detlev. Yesterday, with a bunch of my friends, I visited a very nice craft brewery here in Prague and when I was going there, I already knew that I would write this post about it so I made sure to take some photos as well :) I mean I go to pubs and breweries quite often but usually, I get so absorbed by the "drinking and socializing" part of it so much that I forget to take pictures :D But not yesterday...
The brewery that we visited last night is called "Prokopak" because it´s located on the bottom of the Prokop Valley that is referred to as "Prokopak" by the locals. In fact, it´s the location of brewery what makes it really special. The Prokop Valley is a nature reserve that is known for some truly spectacular natural sceneries and the brewery is surrounded by this extraordinary beauty. Let me show you the brewery from the outside...
I know that you cannot really see much of the stunning natural surroundings of the brewery in those two pictures because it´s impossible to have everything in one frame but maybe if I tell you that these two spots are literally just a few steps from the brewery, you will get some idea ;)
So yeah, the location of the Prokopak Craft Brewery is really unique and breathtaking but let´s finally take a look at the beer they make in there! The beer menu offers a variety of different beers, from easy drinking and refreshing Lagers to Red Ales, IPAs and even dense, richly flavored Stouts. Unlike most of my friends and fellow Czechs, I´m not exactly a beer gourmet so I cannot really give you the cool and detailed beer tasting review like many other members of the Beer Community here on Hive would do but what I can tell you is that I really liked all the beers that I tried and I´m pretty sure I would like those that I didn´t get to try as well :D ;) Here are some pictures...
I´m sorry about the focus not being so sharp but we were drinking pretty intensely so my own focus wasn´t very sharp either by the time I was taking these shots :D At least this photo of the beermat is of a decent focus :)
Normally, the post would probably finish in here but we were up for some extra experience that we didn´t expect. It turned out that some of my friends actually knew one of the employers of the brewery (we all come from the same city, hello Opava people! :D) and he was willing to show us around the brewery itself, I mean the premises where the beer is actually made. This place is normally closed to the public of course so these pictures that I got to take in there are quite rare I guess...
I hope you enjoyed this post as much as we enjoyed our visit to the Prokopak Craft Brewery. We spent a couple of hours in there and when the closing time was approaching, we bought a large plastic bottle of beer and some cups so that we could continue our beer session at the barbecue spot featured in the fourth picture. The brewery offers this service (selling the beer in takeaway bottles and cups) because many visitors want to enjoy the delicious beer while admiring the beauty of the Prokop Valley. So whenever you guys happen to be in Prague, craving for some special beer experience, the Prokopak Craft Brewery is definitely the place to go ;) Cheers!

When I was in Prague, I had excellent beers. Certainly I consider the beers from the Czech Republic among the best.

Well, as a nation with the world´s largest beer consumption per capita, we need to make a lot of beer to cover our own demand and it´s no secret that some of our beers rank among the best in the world :) Thanks for stopping by my friend! Cheers! :)

all you need is a barbeque, that would be perfect!!!
There are actually several fire rings and places for barbeque on that little plateau under the rocks that is kind of adjacent to the brewery so yeah, many people just grab the beer from the brewery and chill out around the fire :) Thanks for you visit Pauline!

Jo. Pár takových už jsem absolvoval. Je fajn občas nahlédnout i "pod pokličku" :) Btw Prokopák za mě opravdu skvělý, ta lokalita je v rámci Prahy dost unikátní. Vím, že nějaký pivovar je i na okraji Divoké Šárky, tam je to asi taky hezké, ale pořád je to jen na okraji a ne přímo v srdci přírodní rezervace jako Prokopák...

Well, coming from a country that has been brewing beers for more than a thousand of years, we have got kind of spoilt and many people here don´t like our "supermarket beers" like Pilsner, Budvar, Kozel, Gambrinus etc. (that are still loved by foreigners though) but fortunately, we have hundreds of craft breweries too and the beers that they produce are usually really top notch ;) Thanks for checking out my little beer report. Presne o 2 týždne to bude rok, čo nepijem alkohol (výsledok minuloročného narodeninového experimentu), ale pivo by som nedala ani predtým 🙂 Je ho strašne veľa a nestíhala som ho vypiť predtým ako mi padla pena a potom mi to už nechutilo 😁 Za mňa radšej víno, ale ty sa ako pravý Čech nezaprieš 😉
Páči sa mi, kde je ten pivovar situovaný. Musím sa priznať, že o Prokopáku som ešte nepočula a vidím, žeby sa mi tam páčilo. Človek by nepovedal, že je to Praha. Pozrela som na Googli, kde to je a tú časť veľmi nepoznám.. neuveríš, ale ja som ešte nebola ani na Šárke 🤔

Takže budeš mít za dva týdny narozeniny? Dobré vědět, snad nezapomenu pogratulovat :) Ani nevím proč, ale myslel jsem si, že nepiješ alkohol. Vím, že žiješ a stravuješ se velmi zdravě, tak jsem to tak nějak automaticky předpokládal :)
Neznáš Prokopák ani Šárku? Tak to je ovšem velká chyba, kterou je třeba napravit! :) Vím, že jsi tu v Praze žila několik let a docela se divím, že jsi ani na jednom z těch míst nebyla, zvlášť, když vím, jak máš ráda přírodu. Já mám Prokopák asi 20 minut chůze od baráku, takže tam chodím opravdu často, většinou i několikrát týdně. Šárku mám trochu víc z ruky, ale i tam občas zajdu. Obě dvě tyhle místa jsou fakt nádherné a člověk by vůbec nevěřil, že je v Praze. Pokud se v Praze objevíte ještě než se odstěhujeme, rád vás po obou těchto lokalitách provedu ;)
Počet piv vypitých za večer je jako věk u žen, to se prostě neprozrazuje :D (pokud teda nechceš machrovat před kamarády, pak je to něco jiného :D)
Áno, áno, 3eho Júla 🙂 mám veľmi ľahký spánok a veľa krát sa stane, že v podstate vôbec nespím, ale odkedy vôbec nepijem, tak sa to trochu zlepšilo.. Ale pravdu povediac, prestala som piť ako experiment, aby som videla, či budem pomalšie starnúť 😂 Samozrejme to nemám s čím porovnať, takže to bol strašne blbý experiment, ale aspoň sa mi zlepšil ten spánok..
V Prahe som cez týždeň chodila do školy a do práce a cez víkend som stále niekam cestovala, takže som tam veľa nebola. Šárku poznám z autobusu na letisko 😂 Ale počula som, že je tam krásne. Tak to sa budeme ponáhľať, aby sme vás ešte stihli 🙂

Takže třetího července je ten velký den, ok, značím si do pomyslného kalendáře :) Já jsem měl narozky v dubnu, přesná čísla prozrazovat nechci, ale mám pocit, že jsme zhruba stejně staří ;)
Se spánkem mívám taky problémy. Trpím insomnií, už dlouho. Poslední asi rok a půl je to mnohem lepší, ale v minulosti jsem to míval dost špatné. Často jsem nedokázal naspat víc než tři hodiny za noc, takže ti naprosto rozumím a soucítím. Akorát že já teda alkohol naopak někdy používal jako "medicínu na usnutí" :D :/ Jsem rád, že tobě naopak pomohlo alkohol úplně vysadit, je to určitě zdravější varianta ;) Teď už tedy jenom zbývá najít ten elixír mládí :D Až ho objevíš, tak dej vědět, taky bych si loknul :D
No alkohol pomôže zaspať aj mne, akurát, že to je skôr black out ako spánok a vôbec si neoddýchnem. Aj po jednom pohári vína sa ráno zobudím so suchom v ústach ako keby som vypila liter..

Tak ja som sa narodila v druhej polovici osemdesiatých rokov a tiež predpokladám, že sme na tom podobne..
Rozumím, u mě to býval taky spíš blackout než spánek :D Doslova :D Ale když byla největší krize, tak jsem byl rád i za ten blackout...
Ano, jsme na tom podobně, jen budu asi o malinko starší ;)
Visiting Prague is an amazing experience, both in terms of food and especially in terms of Prague beer.
I'm not a big beer drinker, but I can say that Prague beer is unique, having tried several varieties.
