My blender broke again šŸ˜

Do you ever have one of those days where just nothing goes right? I was definitely feeling that way the day my blender broke. All I wanted was coffee, and it stuck out it's tongue at me and said no, lol (I drink my coffee in protein shakes to keep my blood sugar happy).

Pardon my messy kitchen, but here's me trying to figure out what the problem is. I've had 3 Oster brand blenders over the years, so I have spare parts for pretty much everything except the metal blades and the plastic that screws them onto the bottom.

So I tried another blender cup, not that. Pulled out the other base I have, and it wasn't that.

It was, as I suspected, the metal blades, that I didn't have a backup of:

I had a little money left in my account because I had gotten a refund for something, so my ass went onto eBay and ordered THREE of these. You won't catch me without a spare again!!! šŸ˜

This part has broken before, and at the time it was cheaper to order a whole new blender than just to buy the part (which is insane, but that's how I started accumulating spare parts). Then that replacement blender only lasted a year or two when it had a ten year warranty. After fighting with them for literally months, I finally got them to honor the warranty, and they sent me a new one. That was maybe five years ago? They don't make them to last as long anymore. šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

Anyway, I've been smashing ice with a mallot in order to make my coffee protein shakes ever since. Hopefully the blades get here soon and solve my problem.

May your coffee be made easily and the things you use to make it work! Have a great week!! :)

I like my coffee hot and black, no sugar šŸ˜… but I have gotten a few coffee machine brown down on me so I know the feeling, now days there are some things I really think about do I get the cheap one or the more expensive because its true most brake down easy, they are not made to last, its a gamble now days, I had a 75inch Oled LG tv for two years and it broke on me, a friend had a 65inch LG Plasma that had like more than 10 years and it was his backup tv after he got a better one, bought the Plasma from him and its still kicking in the living room, takes more power but working great šŸ˜…

Right? The reason I had to fight them on the warranty is because for decades, Oster had a 10 year warranty on their appliances, and that was one of the reasons I liked them. I have a few Oster things. My toaster and bread maker are Oster too.
They recently changed it to a one year warranty. Obviously they have lowered quality.
So they were like, "No, we have a one year warranty" and I was like "yes on your NEW things, but you still have to honor the ten year warranties that already exist!!!"
Argh. LOL

oh I get it the wanted to apply new terms on things bought time ago lol, in terms of warranty Panama is the worst, ppl dont even bother, very rare ppl fight for warranty after some time, customer service is so bad in most business that is not worth the time

they only honored it when I showed them my three or four appliances from them and was like, well, guess I'm never buying your brand again. will tell my mom who has a lot of your things too. they were suddenly like, ohhhh, okay, we'll honor the warranty. šŸ˜‚

Its good to learn of your love for coffee, and the lengths you had to go to prevent a faulty blender from preventing you having a good cup whenever you wanted. I hope the spares served you for a long time, good money was spent on them. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend.

There are days that are like that, like nothing goes right and one almost goes nuts. The blender pulled off but thank goodness you were able to order new blades and yes, they don't make them to last anymore. If they did, how will they be making more money off of you?šŸ˜€

I don't know if I thought to look there for one years ago, so I'm glad I was able to find replacements at a good price and could even get more than one!

That's a cruel blow when one's coffee addiction gets messed with. Your reaction shows your mettle, @phoenixwren. In my opinion, built in obsolescence is a sad reminder of our declining civilization.

Yep, unfortunately. I'm glad I've hung onto some of my older things, they still work to this day while newer things break!

This is really a pain when something broken unintentionally. Last week I also broke the glass jug of our juicer and as now I will also buy only the required part.
