Why These Hive Goals Reports? .:. #MyHiveGoals 2023

avatar

Are these Sunday posts just shitposts? What is the point of counting my tokens every single week? Is there any sense of doing it at all? Why I didn't just say #MyHiveGoals at the beginning of the year and come back at the end to count if I achieve them? These are just some of the questions that I occasionally ask myself... Maybe I should answer myself (and you too, if you are asking the same questions) with a written post...

Created in Canva.com

Do you see what I have done?

I have already replied to one of the questions in the last sentence! 🙂 One of the important reasons behind WRITING these posts is to keep me accountable... And that happens when I WRITE DOWN my goals, or in this case, my REASONS why am I doing it... When I (or you) write down something, it becomes a kind of "official agreement" with myself, and it brings more "heaviness" to it... It's like when you do a rental agreement, and you sign it in the end... If it is stamped, it "looks" even more official and more bonding! That's why I like to WRITE things down!

Why time-limited #MyHiveGoals?

I saw a post today where people were replying in the comment section with their goals on HIVE... Many of them said that they want to reach a WHALE rank on HIVE (which is at this moment over 560K HivePower) or 100K HBD in savings... It's great to have that kinds of goals and work toward early retirement, but I wouldn't call them goals... I mean, I would like to get there, and it is possible to achieve, but you have to create a long-long term plan to achieve that... If not, these are more dreams and aspirations than real goals... Especially if you don't create time limits...

What I saw many times is that people don't take these goals seriously, as they aren't achievable and a bit unrealistic... So, when people realize that their goal is unachievable, they burn out and quit! My advice would be to create more real goals, that you can achieve in a year or two... Create a plan and stick to it...

Why weekly posts?

Now that we have shortened our goal from eternity to a year or two, the next step is to break that goal into smaller pieces... That's exactly what I'm doing with my goals... I broke them down into monthly, and further on, weekly goals... To check out where I stand, I create these weekly reports and compare numbers with my weekly goals... If I have reached some, I do feel better about it, and I'm motivated to achieve others too... Also, it's easier to continue doing these goals next month, next week, if I'm on target with them!

If you don't check out your goals and how you stand, you will, or forgot about them, or when you check after a couple of months, realize that you are far behind and quit... It's easy to fall into that trap... Be consistent and avoid that!

It's time to go back to other numbers for #MyHiveGoals... In the beginning, let's check out HiveStats...

In the last report, I was freaking out about how I created only 3 posts during that week, which means that those author rewards came in during this week... I was afraid that I will have a very bad result, but it wasn't as bad as I thought... Also, during the last week, I kicked myself in the ass and I have created 5 posts in 7 days, which is kind of a maximum at this moment... I don't want to push more as I sometimes get a lot of comments on older posts, so I give people time to "consume" the content slowly... :)

During the last 7 days, I have accumulated 223 Hive Power, which is inside my "weekly margins" that I put to myself to stay on target with my yearly goal... Mission accomplished for this week!

As I said, I did create 5 posts during the last week, and 3 before that, but not all posts were for the LeoFinance... Also, I don't get some huge LEO upvotes, so my accumulation of LEO Power is going at a slow pace... I do think about buying some tokens, but not yet... Curation APR is low, so even if I would buy more and stake tokens, they wouldn't earn me a significant amount of tokens... I suppose that if I want to reach this yearly goal, I will have to buy some tokens... sooner or later...

In the last 7 days, I accumulated 64 LEO tokens that staked them ALL!

GAMING GOALS - Flexible Goals

The change of strategy in accumulating Rising Star cards brought some fruits... It helped me to move up in rankings (but I think that that happened mostly as I played more hours and others quit playing the game) and I'm getting more cards per week, which should help me with catching my monthly goals...

In the last 7 days, I have accumulated 139 cards in total! That's the new "weekly number" of NFTs... I'm still thinking of buying some EPIC cards that I don't have... That's a WIP (work in progress) idea... 😃

Regarding my GLX tokens goal, I'm doing nothing regarding it... The goal is reached, the price of the token is low (in my opinion) and I don't want to sell my tokens for it... The only thing that I can do is to stake all my earnings and "compound" it... So, in the last 7 days, I have added 2417 GLX tokens, which is even more than last week! Well, that's a pleasant surprise!

It's time to update the numbers and put them into the spreadsheet until the next week! So, freshly updated numbers for #MyHIVEGoals, on August 20th, 2023 are:

I know that it works in that way for me, but that doesn't mean that it will work for everyone else... 🙂

Sometimes, I get really surprise of the kind of post I usually come across with while going through new post on leofinance. This post are basically for me, as they help to tell what my mood is and give a proper narration.

No doubt, this post is basically for me, even if it's the authors benefit.

I recently had some password keys issues with my previous account Which I had to start afresh by creating this one.

I used a short term goal in growing that previous account which I literally had to create brain draining content for almost 3months straight. My goals then was to hit a reputation of 60 in a space of 3months, but it actually fell within 3.5months. @sahidclement10 is the username, you can check if you want.

I literally like the idea of making goals, but being specific with the type of goals matters a lot, as it's solely depends on what we plan on achieving.

In regards to what you earn on hive, it is good to check up and see how well you are growing.

Great post @ph1102.

Hmmm... Don't know what you mean exactly by that, but the point of content creation on HIVE isn't that it drains your brain... 😃 It should be fun, and from my experience here, the best authors are those who are sharing their own experience with others...

Thank you for your comment! Good luck with your new account and store your keys safely!

Trying to write up contents daily and also balance studies by reading through out day times inorder to maintain good grades. The academic system ain't funny at all.
I wouldn't advice anyone to try that either 😂.

Great progress. It is for sure important to keep track and monitor goals or they can fall to the wayside. I think a whale goal is ok, but you need to break it down into some realistic timeframes and make a plan how you will get there. You look in a great position for GLX, that is a nice weekly token income there.

Everyone wants to be a whale, but just a few succeed to get there...

Have no idea what's happening, but I'm happy to see that I earned more tokens this week than the last one... I suppose people are scared and selling tokens, or maybe buying stuff in Splinterlands? Who knows... I didn't bother to check as it will not change my focus whatever is the reason... 😃

It is a fact that when a person works hard like this and sets a target in life and works day and night on it and thinks that within this time I have to achieve it. So only a person can be successful in life because without hard work, a person cannot achieve anything and when a person does not know what to do even after working hard, then even working hard is futile.

The goals are important... Without them, the work is just a work, without a point or meaning...

Yeah I totally agree with you.

I agree with the time limits. It helps in giving a time frame that people think is reasonable. I think I made mine a little too low so I will be extending it later, but that is better than not hitting a goal.

Tbh, it's better to have them a bit low, than never reach your "mini-goals"... It's easy to extend them up, but if you have to cut them down, that can be demotivating...

When you put it all down on paper it really becomes real. As you continue to make forward progress on your goals this really does help to focus you on the positive results.

Excellent post and awesome job!

You are right! The paper makes these goals real!
You can't complain about something if it is already written... :)

Absolutely. Have an amazing day today. I believe that you can succeed especially with this plan of writing your goals down.

You have to have clear and realistic goals if you want to achieve them. Being a whale from scratch is almost impossible or it will take many years to achieve that must be clear.

Yes, it is hard to become a whale from scratch... Being an Orca, I am "closer" to the Whale rank, but it would take me a couple of years to get there... If I would push like crazy... It doesn't happen by night and it's unreal to have that as a "realistic" goal...

Like you've said, some people just create goals without substantial ways to actually back them up or build them. As for me, I try go stay realistic, sometimes this is important. Being carried away in goal-building can be a bad thing sometimes.
I'm happy to see how far you're building. That's a decent stash of Leo you've powered up there.

As for me, I try go stay realistic, sometimes this is important.

I try to do it like that too... Create a goal a bit more than I KNOW that I can, just to push myself that small step further... So far, it worked, we will see how it goes until the end of this year... :)

LEO is my weak spot in these goals, but I suppose that's just a question of my motivation and "expectation" for it... I have to admit that I got a bit down lately regarding LEO, but I hope that I'm wrong with my "conclusions" and thinking...

Makes total sense to hold yourself accountable and it's fun to look back on previous weeks rather than having to look back a whole year!

Yeah, a whole year is too much time that is irreversible... I mean a week is too, but it's easier to catchup from a week's loss, than from a whole year... 😃

I think there's no right or wrong answers. I know some people see such posts as spam, but on the other hand, there are people who like to track their progress. We can just post what we like on our account hehe!

That's true! We post what we think is important to us and to others... I forgot to mention another important reason for doing these posts... They INSPIRE others to do the same... I saw multiple people inspired by these posts that are doing something similar, or accumulating HivePower, and other tokens!
It's great to see people follow a good, healthy action on HIVE that can benefit everyone involved!

I feel it is normal to get carried away along the line while trying to achieve your goal but you have to be able to control it so that you will get back on track very fast...

That's exactly why it's important to take yourself accountable and do these reports... To stay on track...

I sometimes ask myself if I should continue with the Hive goals posts or not. I'd still have my Hive goals, but they would be private, as I have others I don't talk about in these posts.

Your goals are in much better shape than mine, and not sure I can do much about it at this point other than change the targets if it comes to that.

I understand your point of view 100%! I forgot to mention another important thing in the post that I wrote in one of the comments... Yes, these posts help me to stay focused and narrow to specific goals...

But, on the other side, I noticed that they helped others, motivating them to continue when it was hard to accumulate... And that's something that has no price... I hope that we all be grateful that we were doing this... when the bull run comes...

Accumulation partnered with compounding is an exceptionally powerful force, regardless of how you choose to achieve it... as long as you have this synergetic dynamic at play, you are in a winning position.

Agree! That compounding effect on my GLX bag is doing great... Yes, the GLX token price is still going down, but it's great to see growth without buying any tokens... 😃 It's great to be out of FUD and keep accumulating...
