THE HABIT OF PLANNING

Habits are very powerful. They can shape or break a person. They can be so addictive if we are consistent with them . The power of habit has been seen, proven and tested in all works of life. A man with good consistent habits can undeniably achieve anything in life. That's my philosophy of life. I've experienced the power of habit in so many ways. One habit that has changed my life would be the habit of planning.

Every night, before I go to bed, I take a piece of paper out, get my pen from my hand bag and take the time to write out my tasks, plans and itinerary for the next day. This has not only helped me, but has improved my days, weeks and months tremendously, making me become more productive and far more organized

Planning one's day is something I find extremely important to do. It gives me a clear sense of direction and purpose. Personally, when I plan my day it enables me achieve more and become more productive than ever. This is because, at every time of the day, I know what I should be doing in that moment.

So when distractions comes, my brain gives me a signal that I'm supposed to be doing this, not that. Also studies have shown that we tend to remember more of what we write down. And writing down our activity or plan for the next day registers more in the brain, such that we find ourselves consciously walking in that direction.

I like to think of it as a map that steers you in the right direction everyday, until you a have achieved that big goal and dream you have for yourself.

Planning my day the night before has saved me a lot from confusion, indecision, procrastination, and forgetfulness. It has made me more efficient, and faster at getting things done. When I started it at first, it wasn't easy. Some days I would forget to plan for the next day, and other days I would remember. And then I discovered that whenever I planned the next day, writing each task on a book with a pen, I ended up achieving more, working with a clear purpose and vision towards my ultimate goal, and I just had this sense of fulfilment. I also became more organized, I wasn't all over the place like before. I knew what I needed to do, the time I was supposed to be doing it and I got it done. Life became much more easier and better for me

And now, I never fail to plan my day the night before. It is one habit that has changed my life in a lot of ways. You should try it too.
