Lacking Sensitivity- An Empathy Crisis

This post is a response to the daily prompt for 5/29/25 "lacks sensitivity".
Empathy is something we need more of. It's lost and gained inside of individuals and populations, and if we are honest with ourselves we need to look inwardly to assess our empathy.
Narcicism and selfishness are rampant in today's world. Being too self-focused is a curse, and we need to be focused outwardly to recognize our potential. It's not hard to see that with social media and instant gratification on the rise that sensitivity an empathy are in decline.
Many in our world lack sensitivity and are living in their own world. Sometimes this is the result of trauma, but often times it is a misplaced inward focus that runs counter to how we should be living.
We need to recognize that empathy is a skill and a strength. It is a muscle we must exercise and if we neglect it we will suffer. The good news is that we can build empathy with our minds and hearts. A lack of sensitivity and empathy can be recognized and changed and this is good news.
Don't lose your humanity to the rat race. Keep focusing on community building and what you can do for others. We have needs and we have community we need to support emotionally and spiritually.
