It's Just Over the Ridge

This is a 5-minute freewrite in response to the prompt from 3/03/2025 "over the ridge"

"It's just over the ridge."

"Thanks! How far over it?"

"You'll know..."

I went looking for something over the ridge and became distracted. It was only supposed to be a few kilometers off the beaten path in the snow-laden tundra. How I wish I would have kept on the established path and never made the choice to stray.

Life is a game of chance and it's also best to plan before you take the path. Don't abandon your intuition on the off chance of finding something better over the ridge. Don't think that running from your problems will be the panacea you're seeking either.

Our biggest reward or worst failure could be over the next ridge. When we plot a course we need to be aware of the probability that we will encounter monsters or pitfalls. We cannot discount the peril hiding in the groves of snow-covered trees on either side of the slope leading us to our supposed destination.

I cannot say wether the source or solution to your problems lies over the ridge or not. Whatever choice you will make will take you on a completely different and dynamic journey. I can advise you to take wise council before you do and as the old saying goes to "look before you leap".
