Missouri senate proposes bill to ban CBDC’s
SB 194
That’s the name of the bill that has been proposed by the Missouri senate to block the use of CBDC’s in the state.
The bill still has to be passed, but it looks like that will be a formality. The bill states that public entities in Missouri won’t be allowed to use or accept CBDC’s and they also are not allowed to enter into a testing of CBDC’s, if it was implied by the federal government or the Federal Reserve.
Missouri isn’t the only state that is taking action against a possible future digital dollar. Also Tennessee and Florida are preparing legislation around that.
Privacy and control
The reasoning behind the proposal is that Central Bank Digital Currencies would be an attack against the privacy of the citizens. It would enable governments to control the financial freedom of individuals and the states are putting up a block against that possibility.
Amazing what is happening in America around this, hopefully these proposals blow over to Europe too!
Sincerely,
