Jeju is an island in South-Korea that is very popular among hikers and has some incredible resorts on the island. But since the COVID-19 pandemic tourism has been struggling.

Now Jeju has launched an initiative to give tourists an NFT “card” on the blockchain that will have a certain value and of course will be a collector’s item. But that’s not all, the NFT will give the tourists discounts at certain tourist attractions and discounts on future visits of the island.

Approval by government?

Jeju is setting an example for other regio’s that want to attract more tourists. But the big question is, will the South-Korean government allow this move by the Jeju council? Because the South-Korean government is very strict when it comes to crypto, but when it gives the economy a boost, they will probably change their minds.
