2022

In 2022 Thailand became the very first Asian country to legalize marihuana. And since then it went hard, very hard! Over 10000 cannabis shops opened the doors since then and on the island of Phuket alone there are 1500 marihuana shops.

This brought an immense tourism trail with it, with a an emphasis on pure drug tourists. Which often got caught at the airport of their home country with kilo’s of marihuana. The tourists also brought criminal behaviour with them and now the Thai government has had enough. They proposed to ban legal marihuana and only allow medicinal marihuana from now on. The proposal still needs to get approval by the chamber of representatives and that promises to be a very hard one as the marihuana business has become very beneficial for the Thai economy!
