Bulgaria part of Eurozone as of 2026
People are not convinced
The chairman of the Eurozone, Paschal Donohoe, anounced today that as of the 1st of january of 2026, Bulgaria will be officially part of the Eurozone and the Euro will be the currency to use in the country.
It will be the 21st country that has the Euro as it’s official currency. Bulgaria will also have a seat at the table at the European Central Bank, and will have a vote in the decisions about interest rates. Economists all state that the country will profit and its economy will grow.
But the local inhabitants aren’t convinced at all. There were a lot of protests by the Bulgarians in the streets. Approximately 55 % of the people are opposed to the action. They are scared that people will get poorer instead of a blooming economy…
Only time will tell!
Sincerely,

A big step for Bulgaria, no doubt but it’s natural for people to feel concerned, especially when past transitions to the euro in other countries have sometimes come with inflation or early challenges.
