Belgians that have been on welfare for 20 years, lose payments!
Justice?
I know, the question mark is not necessarily a correct observation here. But it is what people really are discussing about here in Belgium.
Our new government has decided that as of next month, people that haven’t had a job for 20 years or more will lose their welfare payments. And some people really find this unfair. But is it fair to let other people pay taxes on their wages for your expenses?
This person in the photograph is one of them and says he is no fan of work and capitalism. But still enough to cash in the welfare cheque every month!
Quite and interesting and polarising situation!
Sincerely,

The question of justice is always complicated, especially when you look from both sides.
The person unemployed for 20 years might have had their reasons - health issues, maybe the job market never gave them a chance. But the person waking up every morning paying taxes also has the right to ask where their money goes.
Belgium is making a hard choice right now. There’s no simple answer, no clear “right” side. Just different systems with different costs.
I have no problem with this if the person was healthy and able to work.
Oh they are healthy!
Then it is a good decision and you cannot feel sorry for them as they are not trying.
