World Teachers' Day + Día mundial de las y los docentes [Eng+Spa]
(Edited)
Thursday afternoon has ended. I was putting out several emails with pending things, several of those things gave me a slight headache (literally and figuratively). But there is not much I can do to fix these things, and I will have to see how I manage to find another source of income for my life, if things continue in the direction they are going.
Anyway, my #life today is a little complicated and I prefer not to say more about the subject, let's go on to share about the anniversary of the #History that I chose for today, since it is a date of celebration that has so much personal meaning for me, as well as a family meaning that is important to us. Today, October 5, is 'World Teachers' Day', in Spanish (my native language) we add the pronouns of feminine and masculine for reasons of inclusion.

In my memory, it was simply 'World Teachers' Day', but everything changes with the passing of the decades, and I admit that I have important memories of men and women who were my #teachers and my #professors, at different times in my academic life. So, it is well worth extending recognition of the educational work carried out by teachers, regardless of their gender.
The job of a #teacher is to train the next generations. In the Western tradition, the teachers formed a differentiated and specialized professional group based on the court tutors, who when the first medieval universities were created (around the 11th century) began to be selected for the preparation of the future talents of the kingdoms. I remember reading that in the case of some far eastern regions, there are lineages of teaching specialists that go back more than 1,500 years.
Well, if I consider the Greek tradition, I may have to keep track of the origins of the activities I can classify as teaching to a century before our Western calendar. But I am not discussing the origin of #teaching activity. I'm talking about today's celebration date, which is observed (since 1966) by the official anniversary calendar of #UNESCO and the International Labor Organization.

And my choice of this anniversary is because my father was a teacher all his life, a primary basic school teacher to be specific. My mother was an elementary school teacher for several years, and the older aunt who helped raise me was also a teacher. In the case of my aunt, with whom I lived for several years, she was a high school teacher.
As if these family reasons were not enough, it happened that I (without it being my initial intention) became a university professor, due to the death of a colleague and because I had just finished the teaching diploma, which I had done together with several family members, simply to learn something interesting. I didn't have in mind to be a teacher, I'm not really one of those who think about following in their father's footsteps. But I think, to a certain extent, that's what I did. So, you understand my motivation for choosing this date to comment on it today.
Well, it's my turn to say goodbye and wish you well, and that we can read again another time.
