International Musketeer Day + Día Internacional del Mosquetero [Eng+Spa]

I am doing today's registration (Tuesday) much earlier than usual, but I have already had a couple of incidents this morning, which I prefer not to tell so as not to make the registration bitter, which have led me to think that it is better that I do the publication at once. Although not much has happened in my #life today, since it is a day similar to others, when I reviewed the anniversaries of #History, I found one that has to do with the field of French #Military History (although When I read it, it reminded me of a novel, a classic book by Alexandre Dumas), since today (October 3) is celebrated 'International Musketeer Day'.

Estoy haciendo el registro de hoy (martes) mucho más temprano que de costumbre, pero ya he tenido hoy en la mañana un par de incidentes, que prefiero no contar para no amargar el registro, que me han llevado a pensar que es mejor que haga la publicación de una vez. A pesar de que no ha pasado gran cosa en mi #vida hoy, pues es un día similar a otros, cuando revisé las efemérides de la #Historia, me conseguí con una que tiene que ver con el campo de Historia #Militar francesa (aunque cuando la leí, me llevó a recordar una novela, un libro clásico de Alejandro Dumas), pues hoy (3 de octubre) se celebra el ‘Día Internacional del Mosquetero’.

En general, los soldados que recibieron el nombre de mosqueteros eran usuarios de un arma de fuego de carga frontal, o avancarga, que tuvieron presencia en distintas partes del mundo, pues recibían su nombre por el uso del arma llamada Mosquete, así que, a pesar de que el día de celebración está basado principalmente en la tradición francesa, ocurre que una gran cantidad de Mosqueteros eran de diferentes países. Incluso me sorprendí, al enterarme de que hubo mosqueteros en Asia, recuerdo que vi en unas reseñas que hubo soldados especializados en el uso de mosquetes en ejércitos de China, Japón y Corea.

Bueno, el tema de los mosqueteros nos lleva al uso de esta arma de fuego, que funcionaba como una especie de artillería ligera, desde el siglo XVI hasta el siglo XVIII, aunque algunos cuerpos militares conservaban el nombre de mosqueteros aún en los inicios de la Primera Guerra Mundial (en pleno siglo XX).

But if we are frank, when I read the title of the celebration, what came to mind was the novel 'The Three Musketeers' (published between 1844 and 1845 as serials in a newspaper, and later compiled (and edited) as a #book in 1846). This novel by Dumas is a classic work of French literature, it is a novel of adventure, intrigue, conspiracies, friendships and growth. As a child, I was lucky enough to start reading it and enjoyed it more than I could have imagined.

I was lucky that, at home, reading and studying were always highly valued, although I must say that I became interested in adventure novels thanks to these works. Even today I enjoy reading old classic novels that we have at home again, as well as I have enjoyed several of their film and TV adaptations, although I admit that some adaptations seemed very strange to me at the time.

I guess we all have our particular tastes in this regard. Anyway, I say goodbye, hoping that you are well and that we can read again another time.

Pero si somos francos, cuando leí el título de la celebración, lo que vino a mi memoria fue la novela de ‘Los Tres Mosqueteros’ (publicado entre 1844 y 1845 como folletines en un periódico, y posteriormente recopilado (y editado) como #libro en 1846). Esta novela de Dumas es una obra clásica de la literatura francesa, es una novela de aventuras, intrigas, conspiraciones, amistades y crecimiento. De niño, yo tuve la suerte de comenzar a leerla y la disfruté más de lo que podría haber imaginado.

Conté con la suerte de que, en casa, siempre se valoró mucho la lectura y el estudio, aunque debo decir que yo me aficioné a las novelas de aventuras gracias a estas obras. Aún hoy en día disfruto leer de nuevo viejas novelas clásicas que tenemos en casa, así como también he disfrutado varias de sus adaptaciones al cine y la TV, aunque admito que algunas adaptaciones me parecieran muy raras en su momento.

Supongo que todos tenemos nuestros gustos particulares al respecto. En fin, ya me despido, deseando que estés bien y que nos podamos leer de nuevo en otra oportunidad.
