Polio Immunization Training

Hello, everyone!

Yesterday, I was one of the corps members selected to attend a polio training for house-to-house immunization of children. When I arrived, I saw a large crowd, and one of the officials announced that corps members were not needed because of issues during the last training some had left without completing the work due to stress and other reasons.

However, I waited for a few hours without any positive response, and I eventually decided to change my mind. I had intended to be part of the training to learn how the process is carried out. I wanted the knowledge and experience of administering immunizations to children from house to house.

Nevertheless, although I had done fieldwork before in the South, I was interested in gaining experience in the North. However, it seemed there were already many indigenes available. Several thoughts crossed my mind. I realized that there might be a language barrier, as I might not be able to communicate fluently with some of the residents, especially those who are not well-versed in English.

So, I decided to make a U-turn and go to the Federal Secretariat to assist with one or two tasks before heading home to take care of other things and prepare for evening service.

As long as there were enough people available to carry out the work of maintaining the health of children in the community, I felt satisfied. As the saying goes, “health is wealth.”

It is good to step out of your comfort zone and try something different.

I love, I care, and I forgive
