History Repeats: Seeing the Signs!
There's a saying my grandfather used to repeat: “The past doesn’t die, it dresses in new clothes and knocks again.” I never understood that line until I started noticing how today’s events mirror those of the past.
Look at the news: political unrest, economic struggles, protests, divisions. It feels like déjà vu. But this isn’t just a vibe, it’s a truth that history repeats itself, especially when we stop paying attention. Think about the global tensions building today. In the 1930s, the world saw similar chaos. Economic hardship? Check. Blame shifting? Check. Leaders promising quick fixes and pointing fingers at minorities? Absolutely. That path led to World War II.
Look at what happened in Benue State two weeks ago, herdsmen going around killing thousands of people, using guns, knives, and axes to cut people's heads as animals? Without any sign of consciousness? History repeats and the signs are obvious in our present world. At times, I do ask myself when this will come to an end; honestly, there is no way the world is getting too eviler every day. It's only God who will help people's hearts to stop evil from happening. Without God killing would still occur.
I’m not saying we’re heading straight into another world war, but the signs are there. Social media, for example, spreads misinformation fast faster than newspapers ever could. People believe lies just because they’re loud and repeated often. That’s dangerous. Back then, propaganda was printed. Now, it trends. Abduction repeats itself in our present world, both children and adults. Doing all sorts of miserable things that are not pleasant. Politicians shedding innocent blood just for the sake of sustaining them in leadership and it is still happening today.
It also happens in less obvious ways. Take the neglect of education. In some places, history is barely taught, or it’s watered down. If students grow up never learning about genocide, civil rights struggles, or the fall of empires, how can they recognize the warning signs? They can’t. And so history repeats not because people forget, but because some never learned in the first place.
But here’s the twist: we don’t have to let it repeat exactly the same way. The future’s not fixed it’s a path with forks. We can choose better. We can speak up when we see injustice. We can question leaders, fact-check what we read, and, most importantly, stay informed.
Real change happens when young people care. When they vote, protest, speak up, and keep asking hard questions. We saw that in the 1960s civil rights movement. Young voices turned the tide. We’re seeing it today too, when students challenge the status quo or fight against discrimination. That gives me hope.
So yes, history can repeat. But it doesn’t have to be a curse. It can also be a teacher if we’re humble enough to learn.
Overall, we should learn, move forward, and correct our errors. Even in our personal lives, the history of our family shouldn't be repeated in our lives, let's be different in every aspect. Knowing God will be the only way to stop history repeats.

You’re right, history keeps showing up in new forms because we refuse to learn. Until we change our mindset, speak up, and truly seek God, the cycle will continue.
Insurgency has been plaguing us for years, and while it stopped for some time, it's dishearting to see it's happening again and yet the government don't know how to curb it.
Seeing what happened in Benue State is something I couldn't really imagine because those lives that were lost, the great leaders of tomorrow that died, it is really crazy that such a thing is happening in our nation and the presidency is doing nothing about the whole situation.

What is happening in Benue state is something I am still to understand oo, in one night and they killed such number of people and it took president hours to say anything.
I agree with you that there are many signs of another war on social media and also in the world but we only hope that it'll stop as the government should do a conference to stop it but it's also a report of history repeat itself
