A man like Christ

Greetings, everyone!

As a man, be like Christ

I read a Scripture this morning, and it profoundly deepened my understanding of partnership. In God’s kingdom, we need one another to succeed and to go far in life especially in transforming the life of a brother from bad to good. Paul partnered with Philemon to propagate the Word of God so that others could come to the knowledge of who Christ is and live a lifestyle and character that reveals Him.

Philemon 1:6 ERV [6] I pray that the faith you share will make you understand every blessing we have in Christ.

However, while reflecting on that passage, I realized that for a man to carry out his responsibilities effectively, he must partner with God, starting from the partnership between husband and wife. If a man does not understand who God is, there will be confusion in the marriage, and the wife will not enjoy the marriage to the fullest. A man must be like Christ in love, faithfulness, forgiveness, trustworthiness, the fear of God, and other godly attributes. These qualities enable a wife to submit willingly and enjoy the joy of commitment, sacrifice, and partnership.

Ephesians 5:23 (NIV) “For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.”

For instance, if Christ were to marry a woman, she would submit to Him and enjoy the marriage because He possesses every skill, understanding, and wisdom needed to love unconditionally. As a result, peace and every blessing attached to the marriage would begin to manifest.

A husband who does not treat his wife well does not truly understand who Christ is. The responsibility of the wife, is to submit.
