If you are not finding the passion/motivation to be active in Hive like me, this is for you...

I need to report myself to 'lost and found'.

The fear is coming true, and I'm slowly detaching myself from Hive. No, no one asked me to stay, and I'm not anybody important who needs to stay. But I need to and want to stay for my own good. Unfortunately, I'm losing myself... again...

Am I accusing Hive of a 'not-so-interesting' place? Absolutely not.

I don't know why, I often find myself not motivated enough and don't open the apps for days. It's not like I forgot about it. But I feel like, I'm lost, don't know in what topic I should write on, if people actually got interested in reading my writing...These thoughts take over and win over me.

Not just looking at the long-term goal is enough for any new user.
So what do we need to do in between?

  • Grow a passion for a topic/community if you don't already have.

From my personal experience, this is what can take us a long way. Look, I'm not a writer by any means like many other Hivers. I don't have my personal blog except Hive (although, now I feel like I should start it). For a regular normal person it's hard enough to come up with some writing ideas to be active in Hive/communities.

  • Initially follow the different community and join the prompts/contest.

This can help new users a lot to get out of the black hole and be active on Hive. You don't have to think much but to write on a specific topic. But it's true, the small rewards wouldn't take you anywhere far.

Then what is the next step to gain more rewards?

  • Probably, engaging. At least this is what I found so far.

The more people will know about you, the more chances you will create to get attention and some rewards as well. There are many curators (individuals and community curators), and it's about time to get noticed if you are active.

Yes, you got it right.

All these motivations and do's are for me, for motivating myself. But I'm sharing here so if only one person finds this helpful would serve the purpose.

It's hard to be active 7 days a week. I usually don't schedule posts but probably it's a good idea if anyone can make 2/3 posts ahead of the weekend. But engaging is important. So, I installed 'ecency' on my mobile and tried to be active every now and then.

Does this solve the first problem I shared at the beginning of the post?

No.

It will take time to make this platform a part of my life. From time to time I lost the interest in reading posts, especially long posts, and making a meaningful comment. This is a place where one needs to read and write a lot. So anyone who doesn't have a passion to do that and fails to grow the passion, would find this hard to adopt.

I'm not sure if what I have stated is facts but they are more what I discovered so far. It's up to you if you would like to follow my path. Because there might be other best way that I didn't discover yet. You can share with me if you know...

You may understand, that I'm trying to create a space for myself. I'm determined but often lose the motivation. I'm working on it. I lost and found myself...

It's time to grow.

Thank you for reading.

There are good longer posts that really makes you want to engage with it. Most are meh though. Engaging is always the key around here, after all, it's a social place.

I need to report myself to 'lost and found'.

!LOL Me too!

I always appreciate when people write honest posts about how they're feeling and what solutions they're coming up with for the problems they're experiencing.

I said to my partner just this morning that I want to get on Hive more. So I came up with a new plan to write something, small and meaningful (to me) every day.

Let'ssssssss see how it goes :P

That makes us two...

Seeing all the active users sometimes makes me wonder how people are so dedicated, and what motivates them besides the rewards.

There must be something that I'm missing. We need to be aound more to find out. Good luck.

I totally agree with you. This happens to me very often and I feel lost and I even tend to think if Hive is really a place for me. Everything here is about consistency and for some people like you and me it's hard to find the motivation.

I'm doing the same things you said here you are doing and it's slowly working, but I'm still working on it.

Thank you for share this with us, I find it really helpful.

Don't lose hope. You are a very creative person. It's about time, you will get noticed.

I strongly believe there's a place for everyone in the hive. Be consistent, time will say...

My 8th Hiversary is coming up, but this post of yours was exactly what I needed to read! (Now I should actually take it to heart.) See, I used to have much more fun on Hive, used post about six times a week, used to regularly follow question prompts, and discuss others' responses in the comments. These days I mostly scroll through the feed, and read an occasional post if it catches my eye. As for my own posts, they are all "filler types" of which I merely posted twelve this year. 😭 Sounds like the black hole you were describing. So now I need to figure out how to get back into being more active...

So, this is never-ending?

Seeing other active users made me question my ability/enthusiasm. I understand it's different for every one of us. And it's not easy to post and be active every day.

I believe our offline life sometimes carries us away from online and that's okay. But Hive is based on consistency. That's why we are falling behind.

And I needed to listen from someone like you to understand better, that I'm not alone and it's not a fault but a regular thing.

I'm trying to fit in. Good to find you for inspiration.
