Today I share with you a passage from the sacred scriptures where believers are called to leave behind their old way of life, characterized by sin and deceitful desires, and to be renewed in their mind and spirit. This transformation manifests itself in a new way of life, which reflects the justice, holiness and truth of God. This process involves both a conscious effort on the part of the believer and a work of renewal carried out by the Holy Spirit.

As for your former way of life, put off the old man, which is corrupted according to deceitful desires, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man, created according to God in true righteousness and holiness .

Ephesians 4:22-24

"As for your former way of life, put off the old man, which is corrupted according to deceitful desires."

• Past way of living: Refers to the life that believers led before knowing Christ. This life was characterized by sin, bad habits and immoral behavior.
• Put off the old man: The expression "put off" implies taking off something, as if it were a piece of dirty clothing. The "old man" symbolizes the sinful nature and the attitudes and behaviors that do not please God.
• That is vitiated according to deceitful desires: The word "vitiated" suggests that the old man is corrupted and deteriorated by "deceitful desires." These desires are deceptive because they promise satisfaction and happiness, but in reality they lead to sin and spiritual death.

"Be renewed in the spirit of your mind"

• Renew yourselves: This is a call for continuous transformation. Renewal is not a one-time event, but a constant process of spiritual change and growth.
• In the spirit of your mind: It refers to an internal renewal, in the depths of our being, which includes our thoughts, attitudes and perspectives. It is a change in the way of thinking and attitude towards life and God.

"And put on the new man, created according to God in righteousness and holiness of truth"

• Put on the new man: Just as shedding implies taking off something old, dressing implies putting on something new. The "new man" represents the new nature that believers receive through their relationship with Christ.
• Created according to God: This new man is a new creation made by God, according to His image and likeness.
• In the justice and holiness of the truth: These qualities are what characterize the new man. Righteousness refers to living according to God's standards, and holiness involves a life set apart for God, living in purity and obedience. Truth is the foundation of this new life, contrasting with the "deceitful desires" of the old man.

The central teaching of this passage is that the Christian life is a life of continuous change and growth. Believers must be willing to abandon their old ways and open themselves to the transforming work of God in their lives, always seeking to reflect the character of Christ in everything they do.

Buenas tardes a todos, que Dios les bendiga en este maravilloso día.
Hoy les comparto un pasaje de las sagradas escrituras donde se llama a los creyentes a dejar atrás su antigua manera de vivir, caracterizada por el pecado y los deseos engañosos, y a ser renovados en su mente y espíritu. Esta transformación se manifiesta en una nueva forma de vida, que refleja la justicia, la santidad y la verdad de Dios. Este proceso implica tanto un esfuerzo consciente por parte del creyente como una obra de renovación llevada a cabo por el Espíritu Santo.

En cuanto a la pasada manera de vivir, despojaos del viejo hombre, que está viciado conforme a los deseos engañosos, y renovaos en el espíritu de vuestra mente, y vestíos del nuevo hombre, creado según Dios en la justicia y santidad de la verdad.

Efesios 4:22-24

"En cuanto a la pasada manera de vivir, despojaos del viejo hombre, que está viciado conforme a los deseos engañosos"

• Pasada manera de vivir: Se refiere a la vida que los creyentes llevaban antes de conocer a Cristo. Esta vida estaba caracterizada por el pecado, los malos hábitos y las conductas inmorales.
• Despojaos del viejo hombre: La expresión "despojarse" implica quitarse algo, como si fuera una prenda de ropa sucia. El "viejo hombre" simboliza la naturaleza pecaminosa y las actitudes y comportamientos que no agradan a Dios.
• Que está viciado conforme a los deseos engañosos: La palabra "viciado" sugiere que el viejo hombre está corrompido y deteriorado por los "deseos engañosos". Estos deseos son engañosos porque prometen satisfacción y felicidad, pero en realidad llevan al pecado y a la muerte espiritual.

"Renovaos en el espíritu de vuestra mente"

• Renovaos: Este es un llamado a una transformación continua. La renovación no es un evento único, sino un proceso constante de cambio y crecimiento espiritual.
• En el espíritu de vuestra mente: Se refiere a una renovación interna, en lo más profundo de nuestro ser, que incluye nuestros pensamientos, actitudes y perspectivas. Es un cambio en la forma de pensar y en la actitud hacia la vida y Dios.

"Y vestíos del nuevo hombre, creado según Dios en la justicia y santidad de la verdad"

• Vestíos del nuevo hombre: Así como despojarse implica quitarse algo viejo, vestirse implica ponerse algo nuevo. El "nuevo hombre" representa la nueva naturaleza que los creyentes reciben a través de su relación con Cristo.
• Creado según Dios: Este nuevo hombre es una nueva creación hecha por Dios, según Su imagen y semejanza.
• En la justicia y santidad de la verdad: Estas cualidades son las que caracterizan al nuevo hombre. La justicia se refiere a vivir de acuerdo con los estándares de Dios, y la santidad implica una vida apartada para Dios, viviendo en pureza y obediencia. La verdad es el fundamento de esta nueva vida, contrastando con los "deseos engañosos" del viejo hombre.

La enseñanza central de este pasaje es que la vida cristiana es una vida de cambio y crecimiento continuo. Los creyentes deben estar dispuestos a abandonar sus viejas maneras y abrirse a la obra transformadora de Dios en sus vidas, buscando siempre reflejar el carácter de Cristo en todo lo que hacen.
