Thirtyfor30: Small progress is still progress
Others might say the only way to live life is to "Go big or go home!". For most of my life, I believed it and it worked. The "Go big or go home!" mentality tells us " to either do something to its fullest extent or largest degree or else don't even bother"[1].
But human as we are, it's easy to give up especially when we don't see the results we expect right away. I gave up twice when I didn't see the ideal numbers on the scale. I could've given up for the third time when it took me an hour and a half to finish my first race (a 6km run). I mean 15 minutes/km is not running; it's a stroll in the mall. The world tells us that the little progress we make here and there doesn't count. But I tell you, progress no matter how small is still progress.
When asked "How did I stay on all the good habits I've cultivated to have a healthier life?", I always share this piece of advice. It's the mentality that I don't have to go big right away to succeed that saved me. I once read somewhere that greatness is the accumulation of a thousand mundane things and habits for an extended period. No one becomes great overnight.
Be kind to yourself and acknowledge the little battles you managed to surpass. You're on your way to your desired state. Keep going! 🥰
