Wasp Mother [EN/DE]
☙
Last autumn I finished my second Booknook after Forest Discussions. I´m in love with the concept to create three-dimensional art that opens new phantastic worlds in another way the surrounding books do. The idea for this one came from an new challenge I had with my artist friend. His suggestion was - in order to create an haptic piece of art which A.I. can´t achieve - to use real wasp nests as topic. I usually find many of them around our house after every storm, because we have a lot of abandoned nests beneath our roof tiles. The idea of a caring mother wasp came immediately into my mind and I was super motivated to create my sculpture. I was done with the whole piece in a week or less.

For this piece I had to combine so many different things like collecting, sculpting, sewing (my old tattered jeans became her robe), painting, decorating.

What a beautiful piece, full of subtle details. The honeycomb pieces give a very original natural touch. I love it. Thank you for delighting us with your work. Greetings.
Thank you so much for your kind comment. When you use natural materials, the details come for free 🌿
It's true!! 💚
This is incredible and also very timely for me, we have wasps trying to make nests all around our patio and property it's a constant battle!
Oh no. In Germany it's forbidden to remove them, so I just wait for them falling down. But the wasps at our house are not aggressive anyways, so they are allowed to stay 🐝💚 thanks for your support!
Whaaa that's crazy, last year they made a whole nest in our internet box outside our front door 😂
