CNF#138........ CHAMPIONS

We were happy that our team defeated the famous golden cats by four goals to one. The first goal was scored by our opponents, the golden cats, during the first five minutes of the game and the spectators roared in excitement.

During the second half, our boys showed their strength and art in soccer. The way they controlled the ball thrilled, the spectators.

They changed their game style from defensive game of the first half to the offensive style, which made their opponents uncomfortable.

The golden cats goalkeeper was determined to face the numerous attempts our school team made to score goals, with stubborn resistance.

The teams entered the field at four o'clock when the referee blew his whistle. The smartness with which the referee tossed the coin to determine which side of the pitch each team would defend and the force with which he blew the whistle to begin the match fascinated me greatly.

The field was filled with an array of people in uniforms, the teams in their multi-coloured jerseys on the one hand, and the referee and his linesmen on the other.

At the beginning, the golden cats dominated the game. It seemed as if our school team were asleep. It was on the sixth day of April 2004, that i witnessed the most exciting football match in my life . My schoo's football team won by a stroke of luck.

The linesmen were active. They ran along the sides of the field as fast as the players and the referee.
Each time time one of the players violated a rule of the game or the ball was off the field of play, they waved their flags to alert the referee, who would the blow the whistle to award a free kick or to caution the player.

When the first half ended, the golden cats were leading. As our team sustained their pressure on their opponent, and continued to make frantic effort at scoring some goals ,the golden cats became brutal.

They pushed and hit our boys as though they were fighting. Several penalty kicks were awarded to our team . Our team made good use of these penalty kicks and at last score four goals against the golden cats were scored.

The cultural club of our school sang they beat their drums, while the spectators roared and went wild with excitement.

People who were returning from the market joined the crowd. We moved to the school compound as a jubilant crowd.

The headmaster of my school welcomed our team and said "Our team has done very well. They won the inter school championship and made us proud.

"With the power vested in me as your headmaster, I announce that there will be a celebatory party in two weeks time. You all can go home jubilating" he concluded.

All the students screamed "Yay!" In unison as the jubilation continued.

That day was a fun day for myself and many other students.
