Coastal erosion
Coastal erosion on the beaches of Beberibe is a serious case.
I visited Morro Branco beach in the municipality of Beberibe in Ceará, Brazil and seeing the drama experienced by the owners of houses, shacks, shacks and beach restaurants is distressing.
The occurrence of containment works is limited to private and specific emergency actions that implement works without due technical rigor.

With the impacts caused by the advance of the sea, 18 of the 20 coastal municipalities in Ceará have some risk of erosion on the beaches.
In some of them, such as Beberibe, up to 45% of the coast is threatened by environmental dynamics, according to a new study by the Chief Scientist Program Coastal Erosion, from the Ceará Foundation for Support to Scientific and Technological Development (Funcap) in partnership with the Secretariat of Infrastructure (Seinfra). According to the Program's survey, the municipalities with the highest percentage of consolidated erosion are on the East Coast, led by Beberibe (45%), Cascavel (34%) and Aracati (30%).
Only two cities appear without any type of erosion, so far: Cruz and Paraipaba, both on the West Coast. Visitei a praia de Morro Branco no município de Beberibe no Ceará, Brasil e a visualização do drama que vivem os donos de casa, barracas, palhoças e restaurantes de praia é angustiante.
A ocorrência de obras de contenção está limitada a ações particulares e pontuais de caráter emergencial que implementam obras sem o devido rigor técnico.

Em alguns deles, como Beberibe, até 45% da costa está ameaçada pela dinâmica ambiental, conforme um novo estudo do Programa Cientista-Chefe Erosão Costeira, da Fundação Cearense de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (Funcap) em parceria com a Secretaria da Infraestrutura (Seinfra).
Conforme o levantamento do Programa, os municípios com maior percentual de erosão consolidada ficam no Litoral Leste, sendo puxados por Beberibe (45%), Cascavel (34%) e Aracati (30%).
Apenas duas cidades aparecem sem nenhum tipo de erosão, até o momento: Cruz e Paraipaba, ambas no Litoral Oeste. Jijoca de Jericoacoara, conhecida mundialmente pelo turismo, tem apenas 3% de risco - mesmo da capital, Fortaleza.

Im afraid that something we could start see in Panama in a few years with all the activities going around multiple beach like sand mining, few months ago there were huge protest because they wanted to approve Trawl Fishing that actually destroy a lot of the structures inside the sea that prevent or keep waves from the coast that mainly cause the erosion, must be scary to live close to the beach and know that one day the sea can come and claim everything, the world is changing drastically, its worry and sad to see this happening but its the consequences of nature when we take from it

What we hope is that this can be resolved soon and we hope that nothing happens to the residents on the coast.
It's scary to think that someday someone's property/house will be submerged in seawater or hanging on a cliff because of the effect of erosion.
I hope the people of Beberibe will find a way to mitigate or solve the issue.
