As I walk towards a new place I'm about to discover, I am overcome with excitement as I think about what awaits me. As I walk with excitement after a change of weather, I start to see different types of trees and plants around me. As I get closer, I hear the sound of the waterfall flowing, I feel the wind that introduces the air of the region. The sounds of birds flying in the sky, which I've never seen before, put me at ease. And I see the beauty I have been eagerly waiting for right in front of me.

Yeni keşfedeceğim bir yere doğru yürürken, beni nelerin beklediğini düşündükçe heyecanıma yenik düşüyorum. Bir hava değişiminin ardından heyecanla yürürken, etrafımdaki ağaçların, bitkilerin farklı türlerini görmeye başlıyorum. Yaklaştıkça akan şelalenin sesini duyuyorum. Bölgenin havasını tanıtan rüzgarı hissediyorum. Gökyüzünde uçuşan ve daha önce hiç görmediğim kuşların sesleri, içimi rahatlatıyor. Ve merakla beklediğim güzelliği işte tam karşımda görüyorum.

This river, which originates from the slopes of the Taurus Mountains that cast a shadow on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea, passes through a strait called Sorgun and merges into the Mediterranean Sea, takes us to the Manavgat Waterfall. This long Manavgat river, which is mostly fed by groundwater, pours into the pool from a height of about five meters above the cliffs. Manavgat waterfall can be reached from Manvagat district of Antalya province, located on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. The waterfall, which takes about an hour from Antalya with your own vehicle, is located approximately five kilometers from Manavgat district. The waterfall takes its name from the name given to the district. When you reach Manavgat district, you can easily find the waterfall thanks to the signposts, both in the Mediterranean and in Turkey is known as a very popular travel destination. Our Ministry of Culture has set the entrance fee to Manavgat waterfall as 35 TL. We waited in line for a while in the box office section of the waterfall, which is one of our natural beauties that attracts perhaps the most tourists in Turkey. Since there were many local and foreign visitors coming here like us, there was a bit of a pile-up at the entrance. We had reached our waterfall by paying our fee and standing out among the caravans getting off the full buses.

Akdeniz'in kıyısına gölge oluşturan Torosların yamaçlarından doğarak, Sorgun adını verdikleri boğazdan geçerek, Akdeniz'e karışan bu nehir bizi, Manavgat Şelalesine götürüyor. Büyük çoğunluğu yeraltı sularıyla beslenen bu uzun Manavgat nehri, falezlerden yaklaşık beş metre yükseklikten, havuza dökülüyor. Manavgat şelalesine, Türkiye'nin Akdeniz kıyısında yer alan Antalya ilinin Manvagat ilçesinden gidiliyor. Antalya'dan kendi aracınızla yaklaşık bir saat süre şelale, Manavgat ilçesine tahmini beş kilometre uzaklıkta yer alıyor. Şelalenin adını, ilçeye verilen isimden alıyor. Manavgat ilçesine ulaştığınızda, tabeleler sayesinde kolaylıkla bulabiceğiniz şelale, hem Akdeniz'de hem Türkiye'de oldukça popüler bir gezi noktası olarak biliniyor. Kültür Bakanlığımız, Manavgat şelalesine giriş ücretini 35 TL olarak belirlemiş. Türkiye de belkide en çok turist çeken doğal güzelliklerimizden biri olan şelalenin gişe bölümünde biraz sıra bekledik. Buraya bizim gibi gelen yerli ve yabancı bir çok ziyaretçi geldiği için, girişte biraz yığılma oldu. Dolu dolu otobüslerden inen kafilelerin arasından sıyrılıp, ücretimizi ödeyerek şelalemize ulaşmıştık.

At the entrance, on the stony road leading to the waterfall, there are stalls selling souvenirs, bookstores, kiosks and food and beverage establishments. While walking around this large area, I was happy to see old plane trees, willow trees, elm trees, poplar trees and mulberry trees that are competing with time and trying to preserve their lineage. In the fish restaurants on the banks of the waterfall, I learned that there are many species of fish, especially trout, carp and mullet, which make this place their home. There are many restaurants and cafes in the area where tree branches salute the waterfall. During our trip, we try to explore the surroundings by walking among the thick-bodied plane and willow trees that provide shade. There is a small pool in one part of the area. On top of the pool, fish species made of wood are tried to be shown. Next to the pool, a narrow stone road leads you to an expensive restaurant. When you follow the path on the other side of the pool, you see the upper part of the waterfall.

Girişte, şelaleye giden taşlı yolda, sağlı sollu, hediyelik eşya satan tezgahlar, kitapçılar, büfeciler ile yiyicek içecek hizmeti veren işletmeler yer alıyor. Bu geniş bölgede etraftı gezerken, zamanla yarışan ve soyunu korumaya çalışan, yaşlı çınar ve söğüt ağaçları ile, karaağaç, kavak, dut gibi ağaç türlerini görmek beni ayrıca mutlu etti. Şelalenin kıyısındaki balık restorantlarında, buraya ev sahiğliği yapan, başta, alabalık, sazan ve kefal olmak üzere, birçok balık türünün olduğunu da öğreniyorum. Ağaç dallarının şelaleye karşı selam durduğu bölgede birçok restoran ve kafeler var. Gezimiz sırasında etrafa gölge olan kalın gövdeli çınar ve söğüt ağaçlarının arasında gezerek, çevreyi keşfetmeye çalışıyoruz. Alanın bir bölümünde küçük bir havuz var. Havuzun üstüne ahşaptan yapılmış balık türleri gösterilmeye çalışılmış. Havuzun yanında dar taşlı bir yol sizi pahalı bir restorana götürüyor. Havuzun diğer yanındaki yoldan ilerlediğinizde, şelalenin üst kısmını görüyorsunuz.

After a little sightseeing, we went to a point where we could see the waterfall from the opposite side. Although the waterfall does not flow very high, it is long in the shape of a transverse oval, creating a magnificent visual feast as it flows. It is a great pleasure to watch the smoky and foamy waters of the high flowing waterfall. There are sporadic rock fragments on the river, which passes quickly through the lush green trees. The source, which has a karstic structure, has also enabled the formation of white-colored stalactites. That's why the current is very strong and the water is quite cold...

Etrafı biraz gezdikten sonra şelaleyi tam karşıdan görebileceğimiz bir noktaya geçtik. Şelale çok yüksekten akmasada, enine oval şeklinde uzun olduğu için, akarken muhteşem bir görsel şölen oluşturuyor. Debisi yüksek olan şelalenin akarkan ortaya çıkardığı dumanlı ve köpüklü suları izlemek, insana büyük keyif veriyor. Yemyeşil ağaçların arasından hızlıca geçen nehirin üstünde tek tük kaya parçaları bulunur. Karstik bir yapıya sahip olan kaynak, beyaz renkli sarkıtların oluşumuna da sağlamış. Bu yüzden akımı çok güçlü ve suyu da oldukça soğuk...

The river, which is formed by strong currents, creates a large area for itself with its low flow. The high flow rate also prepares the ground for water sports to be practiced here. The green grass growing in the river adds a different beauty to the landscape on the shores. There are tea restaurants around the river where you can sit and relax. With the chairs and tables we brought with us, we went further away from the area where the waterfall spills. Even in places where the water was shallow, we tried to relax a little by touching our feet to the icy water. One of the young people came to us and got into the water.

Kuvvetli akımlardan oluşan nehir, alçaktan dökülmesiyle kendisine geniş bir alan oluşturuyor. Ayrıca debinin yüksek olması, burada yapılacak su sporlarına da zemin hazırlıyor. Nehrin içinden büyüyen yeşil otlar, kıyılarda manzaraya ayrı bir güzellik katıyor. Nehrin etrafında oturup dinlenebileceğiniz, çay restoranları bulunuyor. Biz yanımızda getirdiğimiz sandalye masalarımızla, şalalenin döküldüğü alanın daha ilerisine gittik. Hatta suyun sığ olduğu yerlerde ayaklarımızı o buz gibi suya değdirerek biraz rahatlamaya çalıştık. Yanımıza gelen ve suya giren gençler biri oldu.

When I look around the water, you can set up tents and camp where there are grassy areas. I can also say that there are suitable areas for hiking, which is one of the natural activities. You can even take boat tours on the river where the Manavgat waterfall passes. Since the current power of the water is very strong, you can also participate in activities such as rafting, canoeing and jeep safari. In my opinion, the most beautiful thing is to put your feet in the water, chat with your loved ones and eat something.

Suyun etrafına baktığımda, çimenlik alanların olduğu yerlerde çadır kurup, kamp yapabilirsiniz. Ayrıca doğal etkinliklerinden olan yürüyüş içinde uygun alanlar olduğunu söyleyebilirim. Hatta Manavgat şelalesinin geçtiği ırmağın üstünde tekne turları bile yapabilirsiniz. Suyun akım gücü çok kuvvetli olduğu için, rafting, kano ve jeep safari gibi etkinliklere de katılabilirsiniz. Bana göre en güzeli suyun içine ayaklarınızı sokarak, sevdiklerinizle beraber sohbet ederek, bir şeyler yemenizdir.
