The strength of silence.

I don't know about you, but on some days my mind is so busy, that I can hardly hear someone talking to me.

But I have found a way to still my mind, as each of the photos in here took place in silence. I simply shut down every thought that tries to enter my mind, and the amazing thing is that it works for me. Listening instead of talking is initially more difficult to do, as we are forever ready with quick retorts, and at times we say the wrong things that upset people. Not always a correct retort, but we are in a hurry to get our own voice heard. The sad thing is that hardly anyone truly listen nowadays.

To still the mind is not an easy task, but it is so important to do, as it will give us inner peace. That is why I often find an escape in nature, and lately it seems to work wonders for me. Just to sit and listen to the silence of a sunset, or a noiseless flock of birds flying over. Maybe the ice crystals, surrounding the sun, quietly pointing to the coming rain. All blended into the sounds of silence.

Take a look at these silent pictures below.

Some gulls came noiselessly flying over, as we are close to the sea.

An indication that we will have some light rain soon.

And then, a mass of gulls started to come over.

Finally, the end of the day started to silently close down.

There is strength in silence, but somehow, we have misplaced silence in favor of our busy minds. Some call silence haunting, while others have ridiculed silence, in an attempt to get their own loud views across. There is silence in the heavens, and likewise the same silence should also be in our souls. Of course, the great spoiler of busy minds makes this almost impossible. I say almost, as a strong will can overcome this, and so does a positive frame of mind. I am old now, and for me the chase is over, but I still stay positive, and I have learned the secret of silence. It has really started to turn my life around, and so it can also do this for you.
Such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

Hi, I love the photos where the sun is visible through the tree and the clouds seem to blur.

There are days when we need getaways that make us connect with nature, with the world around us. Your photographs invite us to do that, to escape from our minds for a while and fly, like those birds.

I try my best to do it every day, as lately it's a pleasure to leave the world behind, and to enter a new world of solitude and peace.
The idea was to show this new world in the strength of silence.
