The road outside was busy today.
This is a trick photo, as there are three Guinea fowls in the photo.
A happy birthday to my friend @fermentedphil today!
Machines were busy dredging the river, and the residents invaded the roads, not human residents, but rather a flock of Guinea fowls. The river starts at the mountains, and it runs down across town to the sea. On its way it passes close to our house, and the guinea fowls stay in the wide-open spaces beside the river. So, when any trucks and machines arrive, then the guinea fowls invade the roads, as they have to eat. All of this took place in the road outside our house, and they stayed around for a long time before they went to the other roads.
Keep an eye on the little squirrel at the front of the picture.
Hey, hey, hey, this is our place, the squirrel shouted as he ran past the fowls.
This below is the view in the road close to our house.
Some more fowls were scrubbing for food here.
The river is behind that palisade fence, and another group of fowls was also busy here.
A leader at the left called and they all moved away around that corner.
I have shared some of the river works in here last year, and I think that the contract to complete the job will end next year. They are dredging the river from its source at the mountain, right down to the sea in order to prevent flooding in the town. Tons and tons of rocks and stones pass our house in big trucks most days, as the machines scoop the rocks up from the riverbed. It is a massive contract to deepen and widen the river.
We have had some rain already but no heavy stuff, as it was only light rain, and it is when the heavy stuff comes down that the floods happen at times. I have to say that they have already tamed the flow judging by the work that they have started last year. A problem is that there is a trainline and some major roads that were built to cross the river, and it is under these crossing that the riverbanks need to be reinforced. But all is good thus far and I hope to get many more of the river's residents in the road outside.
Such is life.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

I was drawn by the picture of that bird, it’s gorgeously different. It loose similar to a bird we locally call Ogazi or Guinea fowl, though I’ve not seen anyone this big…Is that a Guinea fowl?
Yes, it's a Guinea fowl.
Awww
It’s so big and gorgeous
I’ve not seen any that big before
The birds are very obedient, they don't play in the middle of the road. The color of their feathers is very beautiful, I like them.
There is no food for them in the middle of the road, as the food gathers at the sides of the roads.
Glad that you liked their feathers. !LOL

In the tricky photo at first glance I thought they were two birds but after reading your post I found the third bird
Guinea Hens are beautiful birds. My Aunt raised them, and I remember being chased a lot by them as a little girl. Nice capture of the squirrel. lol
I cannot believe how we change over the years, as in my distant past as a child on a farm, we used to eat them. Now in my advanced years I can only appreciate their beauty and their actions.
So, you were chased by them, and I suppose that's what the tame ones do. These are all wild and they take off when humas appear.
Glad that you liked the squirrel milady, and may you have a good new week.

Yes, I agree as we grow older our lives are so different than being raised on a farm. We ate the hens too when the flocks got too big. Have a great week ahead. ♥
Thank you, milady, and may you also have a great week.

That road was really busy! ^_^ Here we don't have Guinea fowls, but your pics made me think they could be nice subjects for one of my next sketch or painting. ❤️
Thank you, and as usual you are free to use any of them for your paintings.

What are they eating in the road? And how are the mongoose taking this?
@fermentedphil belated happy birthday 🥳
They scratch in the gutters below the words to get worms and insects. The mongooses are all gone, as well as the frogs, as the contractors are working with big machines in the river.
