The recent full moon.
And due to the weather, it was a real battle to get it at last.

It was a clear afternoon in the skies, and I had high hopes to get the full moon on a mountain peak. But that was not to be.
Something unexpected arrived to spoil my hopes, and it was a dark cloud bank that came over from nowhere. So, I knew that it was going to be a waiting game, as I had no chance of getting the moon on the mountains. Instead, I stayed at home and every now and then I popped out in our back garden to see if the sky had cleared. To motivate myself, I tried to get the moon on camera between the cloud gaps, and eventually after midnight, the clouds took their leave.
I will show you below what I am talking about.
There was no chance to get a clear shot of the moon in this mess, but I took the pictures in any case, just to remind me that it was the full moon. Like I said above, I knew that sooner or later I would get a clear shot. It turned out to be the latter as you will see.
Yep, I was right, as the cloud cleared, and there it was, in its full glory, even though it was still a bit misty.
I got this shot below, and the tag picture after midnight.
The doctor will freak if he hears that I was not in bed at 10pm, but the bed is a slow roasting oven, as it's very hot here at night. So yes, I like to take chances, even though I only had 6 hours of sleep, and the quack wants me to sleep for 8 hours. My excuse will be that I waited to get the full moon, and it was not my fault that the cloud cover arrived. A very liable excuse methinks :)
In any case it was my usual adventure to try and get the moon, and although I have failed to get a full moon due to the weather many times, I will never give up trying. So, on this occasion, Mother Nature was kind to me.
So, what say you?
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

That turned out to be a great shot of the moon. Funny how all day long it is perfectly blue sky and then at night those cloud banks come rolling in! Staying up until midnight paid off, that much is certain. It really is tough to sleep in the heat, I've done that more times than I can count over the years. I hope it wasn't humid, some of my worst nights were in the Caribbean after hurricanes blew through taking the power out. No electricity, high heat, and pure humidity make for a lousy night!
Eight hours of sleep is important, but hard to do I find. I hope you're quack isn't on Hive to hear that he's a quack! lol I do miss those younger days when I didn't need more than a few hours of sleep and I would be fine the next day. The good old days...
But as you like to say, such is life... I hope it cools down for you at night soon, fall should be arriving before too much longer!

Thank you, and I am trying to share a lesson about persistence, as at most times one will get rewarded for waiting. That Cape is renowned for its strong winds, and it can change the weather in a blink of an eye. I agree with you about the toughness of sleeping in the heat, and I have also many experiences of it over the years. Thankfully things are not humid over here, as we are near the cold Atlantic Ocean, but in saying this, we are also in a Mediterranean climate. No electricity can certainly make things more difficult.
8 Hours of sleep is a dream in my book, as when I at last get into bed, then I roll around for a few hours in the heat, before I finally fall asleep. We seem to have had very similar experiences about our sleeping hours when we were younger, and I could even work through the night with no sleep.
Fall is still some way off, and all that we have to do is to make sure that we are not fried by the time that it arrives Lol.
