The famous African Fish Eagle at rest...
...and a flock of birds crossing the moon's face.
I was all eyes and ears, as I heard that famous eagle's call.
Do yourself a favor by Googling the "African Fish Eagle Call" on YouTube
So, off I went to search for him and as I spotted him at last, I tramped in a dent in the road with my bad left leg. It brought tears into my eyes as my knee met bone to bone (cartilage long gone), and a sharp pain shot up into my head. But that didn't stop me from getting a few shots of the eagle. I paid for the few shots later at night, as the leg cramped up in bed, and my wife had to massage it with some of her concoctions.
But I am not complaining, as I got the eagle on camera. Lol
The African fish eagle (Icthyophaga vocifer) or the African sea eagle is a large species of eagle found throughout sub-Saharan Africa wherever large bodies of open water with an abundant food supply occur. It is the national bird of Malawi, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. As a result of its large range, it is known in many languages.[3] Examples of names include: Vis Arend in Afrikaans, nkwazi in Chewa, aigle pêcheur in French,[4] hungwe in Shona, inkwazi in isiZulu, and ntšhu in Northern Sotho. This species may resemble the bald eagle in appearance; though related, the two species occur on different continents, with the bald eagle being resident in North America.
Drat! The eagle took off behind the trees and this was all that I could get of it in flight.
Now for something else that happened later at twilight.
I saw the birds heading in the moon's direction.
Wait for it!
Bang! There I got them and the moon. I was trying to get the moon more in the center between the two lines of birds, but I clicked a second too late.
And I end the post with two moon shots below.
Almost clear later, but the sky was hazy due to the clouds.
I don't know about you, but at times I dream of getting a perfect shot of some bird that my camera sees, seeing it floating above my head like that fish eagle, only for the dream to be shattered by the bird taking off behind some trees. It really leaves me with an empty feeling. But then I always console myself with the thought that I still have time to get it at some other time in the future.
That fish eagle in flight is a great sight to see, and I have posted it in flight in the past, but I will never tire of trying to get it. The haunting call of the fish eagle is reckoned as the sound of Africa, and once you have heard it, you will never forget it. By now you know that I only try to do high quality posts, and I enjoy sharing all of my passions with everyone here on hive. Just my way of doing things.
Such is life.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

@papilloncharity That's a pretty beautiful eagle in the first picture, and how many meters is the distance between the achromatic and the object when you take the shot.
A lovely eagle indeed, and the distance was approximately 100 meters. !LOL

Hi @papilloncharity, the fish eagle is quite a good shot considering the pain in your leg, I think you did a stirling job with the photography of the birds in flight too.
Sorry about the sore leg, hope it heals soon.
Have a great day.
That eagle is very unique looking. I've never seen its kind before. It seems that it's looking for a snack.
