Tame as can be.

They don't know us, and so they came to greet us.

This is my promised horse post that I said I will share sometime.

We visited the small town of Greyton for two days, and they were wonderful days. In the peace and quiet, close to the mountains, one can get a lot of fresh air and clean mountain water. A blessing was, that there was not one traffic light in this town, and all the people were very friendly. Although it was very hot, it was a drier heat far away from the ocean, and after day one we could actually feel our chests clearing.

Now, I don't know if I have told you this, but I had a serious mishap with the photos, as I lost an entire afternoon's photos, so now I have to scrape through the days that we were there in order to put something cohesive together. Fortunately, I still had the photos of these horses, and they were just as friendly as the town's folk. Lovely animals and even a small colt.

Wooo! She saw us standing at the gate of the property where we were staying.

And oh, I just knew that she would come and look for something to eat.

Hello folks, do you perhaps have a carrot or an apple, or anything to eat?

So, I said no, we were not geared up yet, while patting her. We didn't even know that we would encounter horses in this town.

Some others arrived, and they were on their way somewhere. (3 shots below)

On our way to the shop, we saw many of these mowing the lawns of the roads.

Later on, this guy also pitched up, but he did not come to the fence.

So, that's it, the horse post is now done, and it brought back so many fond memories of our short stay in the town. We felt that we did the town an injustice, because if one really wants to explore any of the small towns, a longer period than two days is required. I took more photos of the horses, but they are nowhere to be found. Our IT guy said it was a computer glitch, and even though he did a deep search, he could also not find the photos.

He could also not find the photos of our walk in a mountain gorge, where I took some special photos of frogs in the pools. I also had some photos of a rock lizard and swallows diving into the surface of a pool to take a drink in flight. Imagine having such photos, and then they go missing. To this day it troubles me. But as I always say...
...such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

That horses are incredible and funny @papilloncharity. The one who reached out via fence is so silly but smart to ask for food. Is it true you see horses anywhere in this town? Or just that only corner you have seen them do they businesses. They are smart animals but I sometimes find them funny. I am sad the photos were gone, hmmm, I assume they are great ones who could capture your experience. But such is life...

Those horses and friendly, as they are used to people, and they know that at times people have a snack available for them. Yes, it is true that the horses walk freely all over in the town. We find them happy and beautiful. Things happen at times, and we will just go back there sometime, and when we do, I will make sure that my photos will not disappear again.
Such is life indeed!

Greetings @bleujay ,

Thank you, and I appreciate your kind words. I said somewhere else that we will return to the town sometime, and then I will have an opportunity to take the photos again. Glad that you liked the horse photos.

Oh yes, the horses have a similar effect also on us. Wonderful and gentle animals.

Kind regards,

Such a shame to hear you lost so many of your pictures from that location. But on the bright side you had the horses. I love visiting place like that with friendly horses who all know that the people are there just to feed them! They can be such sweet animals, and I brought my young son to a ranch like that several times over the years.

I learned to ride horses relatively young, I grew up with most of the neighbors owning horses. My parents never did as they were expensive to keep. I always enjoyed riding, but my son was terrified and never wanted to learn. He was perfectly happy feeding them carrots and apples though! lol

That sounds like a great town, and the heat away from the ocean was good for the lungs from the sound of it. Well, maybe next time the pictures will work out better, at least you had a nice stop there in Greyton!
