Spring season has now arrived...

...and a new baby sunbird was posing on a hibiscus flower.

I will also show you our first spring butterfly, and at the end of the post you will see a mating pair of dragonflies.

Today, the 1st of September is the official date of the spring season in South Africa. So, we have a new month, a new spring, and also new life to herald in the advent of spring. Then a friend of mine has also finally got his PhD degree after four years of study. So yes, spring started very well here.
Come and see.

It is a female Southern Double-collared Sunbird baby (Cinnyris Chalybeus).

By instinct, the baby knows how to feed herself.

A first appearance of an Acraea (Acraea horta) butterfly.

The baby's mom was also hanging around close to her.

She was picking off insects on a small Dandelion flower.

A lovely pose that she had here.

And there the father was sitting on a high tree and happily singing away.

Finally, we visited a pond, and I will show you the rest of the pond photos in another post.

A pair of mating Dropwing dragonflies.

We are looking forward to the warmer days' arrival, but it is still a week or two away. In the meantime, you can see that the wildlife has already become active. They say that spring is the season of joy, and nature certainly has started to show us how her residents enjoy the new spring season.

So, happy times ahead once again, and after my 71st spring season, it still has not lost its lustre. Many new discoveries will emerge, as usual, and one just has to be vigilant in order to get them on camera. I don't know about you, or how you feel when the new spring season arrives, but for us it is a time of bliss and adventures.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the photo.
