Some tough going...
...but not too bad, as just a bit of slip and slide on a gravel road.
Thankfully, our little car is used to it, and it behaves itself very well.
We often stop among a few 4x4 trucks, and then the drivers of the trucks look at us incredulously, some even want to know how we got there with our little car. Low gear, slow, and never stop is my answer. It is very difficult to get out of the pool if one were to get stuck. I think I may have to get a new passenger seat door handle, as my wife hangs on to it for dear life when we go through these mud pools, not to mention in the busy streets and around circles:))
You can see what a mess it can get after the rains.
We got through, and closer to our beloved mountains.
The clouds were starting up again, after a bit of a break we had had in the morning.
Building up for the next rains.
Looking forward to more and more rain, a nice adventure when we have to navigate the roads.
I know we have seen these mountains every day for the past seven years, but we look forward to seeing their rocky cliffs and towering columns as soon as we climb in the car to venture closer to them and the surrounding nature. Come rain or shine, there is always something to see that we haven't seen before. Could be the clouds, the birds, the wind-swept trees, or the plants all around. Even if we have seen some before, we test ourselves to remember the names and something interesting about each item in nature. Always learning, always growing, always searching, and always finding. The eyes and ears, and senses, must be alert to what it is happening all around.
If you look across the foothills, they look plain and dull colored, but when one walks along the footpaths there are so many exquisite plant species that are not common or that one doesn't see every day. In the warmer months, there are always different insects and birds that we get to experience for the first time, alongside the usual crowd. We love it. It feels like home for now.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

I have climbed very few mountains but whatever I have done has been an experience that I will always remember. You are right, even the mountains that look plain smooth from a distance are full of beautiful plants and in the rains those places become charming on a different level. :)
Our car has climbed many mountain passes, and it is sure to climb many more :)
Yes, and you are also right as the views of the mountains constantly change.

I look forward to seeing those huge mountains every time you share them! I can only imagine how much a walk through the foothills trails would thrill. They would be so exotic to me with all of the wildlife and native plants.
Someday I will walk those foothills and share my pictures here too!
Glad that you also like the mountains, and the foothill hiking trails. We have some farms here that borders right onto the lower sections of the mountains, and the owners have cut hiking trails that lead right up to the lower reaches of the mountains. On one of the farms, there is a hiking trail that passes through the deep valleys between two sections of a high mountain.
I shall await the post of you hiking in the foothills :) (Someday).

.I think just like the ocean, one never tires of looking at the mountains. That muddy road looks like tough going indeed!
Just like you, we are also of the same minds. Totally different views of the ocean and the mountains, and
each have the same allure.
Not so tough milady, as we had many worse experiences, and one just has to be careful.

Mountains always keep calling. My village too get pictursheque on rainy days, with the clouds touching the tip of mountain and a vast farming landscapes at the bottom. It get more capitivating when the crops grow with landscape turning greener, and the sku turns grey, while the black mountain stand still at one place.
Ah, you are right, as the call of the mountains can be heard by all of the lovers of nature. Your description of the clouds and the farm landscapes below the mountain is much the same as what we see here. At times, I take photos of the farm crops with the cloud covered mountains in the background.
Peace to you and your family.

Small details sometimes offer us universes as valuable as those we can't find in panoramic views.
Thank you for these insightful words and the great photos!
You are right, as the small details are essential to form the whole.
