Our first short drive of 2024.

Ah yes, the daily power cuts are back again, and we generally take either a drive, or visit somewhere in nature during the off hours.

We were expecting the power cuts to be back, as some of the manufacturing companies were starting up again and this increases the demand on the electricity loads.

A simple explanation in a nutshell, as there is so much more to say about the enforced power cuts. So, I rather take you on a drive to view some sights in our paradise.

I love to drive in this lovely tree lined road, and you can see that the trees are all very old and majestic.

Two views below during the drive on our way around this mountain.

We turned left at the T stop and I had to put the camera away, to avoid getting any fines in this area.

Then it was down this long and steep downhill to connect with the road that leads back home. See the darker blue spot between the trees at the end of the road?

That darker blue spot was the ocean as we approached the main road.

Just a bit of a better view of the Atlantic Ocean.

And finally, we arrived back home.

During the drive I also stopped to get some other lovely views and if you look carefully at the horizon of the two pictures below, you will see the clouds covering the mountain range.

Oh yes, the mountain range drew me in like a magnet, and I got some great views of the action, but I will show them to you in another post.
This Wednesday is going to be a big day for me, as not only is it the first meeting of the year, but it will also hold some serious outcomes of my plans. We are now in the 23rd year of Papillon's existence, and a great help to keep abreast of the changes of the times are contained in our constitution. Something new always pops up, and if it falls within our scope of works, then action is required.

How we have survived for so long is legendary, as we have seen so many non profits closing their doors through the years, but giving up was never in my mind. Our relocation to the Cape was also filled with trials, but somehow to this day we have managed to keep our heads above the water. Not easy if you are strangers in a strange land, but over time we became settled, and the work continues. We were also blessed with many new local friends, and I have formed some great friendships over the years on hive.
What more can a man want? Nothing, as time and life goes on.

I hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.

This place is indeed a paradise, I love the view of every photo here from the mountains to the trees. That tree that got some red flower on it caught me. So mesmerizing!

Thank you, and I think that the tree with the red flowers is a Coral tree. They are indeed beautiful trees.
