Oh yay, rain clouds started coming in.

Our town is dry due to the excessive heat these last weeks.

So, I took a short drive around in order to get a better view of the clouds.

Two things took place here today. One, disappointing, and the other appreciated. So, as I go on in this story, I will tell you both. We are dry here, as I said and the grass is that yellow dryness color all over the place. The thing is that we are in a winter rainfall area, and our winter didn't deliver the goods this year, as we did not get our full quota of rain.

The weatherman reckons that the high and low air pressure systems are creating havoc lately, and they explained to us that some places will get no or very little rain, and other areas further inland and along the coast will get buckets full of rain because they are all in the summer rainfall season. Due to the wind direction. The clouds that you will see in here were on their way to the KZN province, but we hoped that they drop some rain on their way over here.
For now, let's have a look at the pictures.

What a pleasing sight awaited me on the drive. RAIN CLOUDS!

It looked really promising, and we had high hopes.

The big predator birds also thought that it would rain, and this one was scouting for prey.

Bingo, as it looked like he caught a rat.

Then we arrived back home, and we waited and waited for the drops to fall.

A heartsore story isn't it, as not one drop of rain fell here. They say it rained in the city, but that's far from here as we are in the rural/agricultural suburbs. So, that was the first disappointing thing that I mentioned in the opening paragraph, and the second occurrence was much more pleasant, as the clouds covered the sun for the whole day and our temperatures dropped low.

24C beats 34C any day, and we had space to breath with no sweat clinging to our bodies. That old saying of, if only this or if only that emerged in my mind. If only it rained came up in my mind, but I discarded that line of thought, as it is like it is. We however feel for those that are trapped in floods up north, and we know how it feels when flood waters start breaking windows, and floating trees crashing into buildings breaking walls apart.
Such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

The atmosphere is definitely heavy. What a great photo capturing the bird catching its food, by the way!

Oh yes, it really had us fooled, as it didn't rain. I was fortunate to get that bird in the low light conditions.

Whatever the weather, the palm tree looks graceful with its distinctive style.

I hope it rains soon where you live. It rains almost every night here, but I'm anxious about flooding again. When it rains, the river is always full.

Yep, I am very fond of palm trees, as they also show me which way the wind is blowing.

Thank you, and we really need the rain. Take care, as if that river overflows you might be in trouble.

Those rain clouds look so promising even if no rain came, I’m glad they cooled the day down. Also, great shots 🙏🏻

Oh yes, I always look for a positive in any negative situation, and the positive was indeed found in the clouds cooling the day.
Glad that you liked the shots.
