Lovely colors of sunset.

We are hot here, and it's only the gentle cold breeze at sunset that keeps us sane.

Our first sunset show in the new 2026 year, and it was a good one.

But there was also something sad to see in here, that I will show you below, and we only heard the next day what it was. So, come and have a look.

I love how the sea had a whitish shimmer, as it contrasted with the buildings at the seafront, and also with the approaching sun.

I could not take a shot of the full sun, as it was too bright, and might have damaged my camera. So, I waited until the sun was halfway behind the mountain.

Then the sun was gone, and the colors started to deepen.
111.JPG

And now the sad thing started to happen.

If you look at the right bottom of the picture, you will see some smoke rising.
119.JPG

That smoke column seemed to be rising from a building that was on fire. But not so, as we heard in the news that it was a parked car on a street that burst into flames.

Back to the sunset, the wind started to gather the clouds.
112.JPG

And I got a plane flying out from the airport just below the cloud.
117.JPG

So, it was all over, and we started to make our way back home.
131.JPG

Finally, the wind had the last say, as it split the cloud in the picture above into lovely pink streams.

I cannot imagine parking our car and it catches on fire. It seems to be happening more regularly lately, and in my younger days, we never saw or heard of this. But our car is very basic, with an ordinary engine that runs on a 12 volt battery. Nowadays, cars have a bed of lithium batteries built into their frames, and so many electronic gathers and other magafters, that one has to have a university degree to understand it all. A steering wheel can now talk to a screen mounted on the dash of a car, and one can programme it to remind one to take the dog for his monthly haircut to the doggy parlor.

I mean, wasn't a car designed for one to concentrate on the road when driving? Then why would a woman put lipstick on her lips looking in the internal rear view mirror, instead she comes to a screeching halt, almost driving through a red traffic light. That screeching sound almost made me swallow my gum Lol.
Such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

When I read your blog, it reminded me of the song by She & Him, the I Thought I Saw Your Face Today. It has this line of "I somehow see what's beautiful on things that are ephemeral", which narrates perfectly the sunset you have shared with us. Alive and sublime, this is how I can describe your shots. They are beautiful but wicked would always find its way in some moments, just like that melted car. Hopefully the owners were out during the incident and safe. Thank you for sharing this @papilloncharity. Such a good read.

I like the way that you describe the contents of my posts, as not many people read the posts anymore. Not only mine, but also all others. "Wicked" has its ways to intrude if one is not careful, and it's very similar in our lives. Fortunately, there was no one in the car, but I am sure that the poor owner was shocked when he got back to the car.
Glad that you liked the post :)
