Look how they have grown.

She stepped onto the stage to pose for us.

We went to check on the progress of the geese goslings, as they were only a few days old in my post HERE

There were eleven goslings in my first post, as one had drowned, and now there are only eight left. I don't even want to guess what happened to the missing ones. In any case the survivors are really making good progress, and we only hope that this time round they will all reach adulthood. I think that maybe one, or two made it last season, but nature in this case is very unpredictable, as the predators also have young to feed.
But we don't interfere with the ways of nature, as it is all a part of the eco-system. So, let's adore them while we have them.

The Egyptian goose (Alopochen aegyptiaca) is an African member of the Anatidae family including ducks, geese, and swans. Because of their popularity chiefly as an ornamental bird, the species has also been introduced to Europe, the United States and elsewhere outside their natural range. Egyptian geese were regularly represented in ancient Egyptian art.

You can read all about the Egyptian Geese here at the Wikipedia Source

I clapped for her, and she stepped off the stage:)

...and here below the other four were having a siesta.

So, let's have a look at the sleeping ones.

Yep, that's what I call relaxing.

We have many Egyptian Geese here in South Africa, and due to the farms and the dams in our area they are really flourishing. We have even seen them wading among the rocks in the shallow waters of the sea. Strong flyers, and during the breeding seasons the male turns into a soldier that will attack anything that threatens his family. They will even attack drones flying low in their territory. Imagine that you have a very expensive drone, and while you operate it in flight, an egyptian goose shatters it. Must be a real heartache:)
All that I can say to this is, such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

The goslings are geese and not ducks. Glad that your daughter has ducks :)
