In the twilight zone.
Some amazing late afternoon shots for me to share.
For a change there were no clouds about, but that did not prevent the setting sun, to still throw up lovely colors.
July is known to be the coldest and wettest month of our winters here in the Cape, and this year it has thus far performed true to form. Clear winter sunny days are scarce, and we make sure that we enjoy each of the clear days. One does of course still wear a jacket on the clear days, as the cold windy door of the Atlantic Ocean fridge is left wide open. We also wear beanies to prevent our ears from dropping off in the cold winds:)
This is one of the most dangerous times in the townships for fires to start, as it is cold at night and in many instances, people are neglecting safety when they make fires to keep warm. Not only that, but stoves and candles can also start a fire if they are not properly managed. We have some instances when something like 200 shacks burn down when a fire is started, as the shacks are in close proximity to each other. A very sad situation.
This was the scene upon our arrival in the late afternoon.
I happened to get this lovely shot of a Jackal Buzzard crossing over on its way home. It is called a Jackal Buzzard as its call sounds similar to that of a Jackal.
Right. Back to the lovely colors.
A night view, as things turned dark and the lights at the top of the picture, is not a plane, but rather buildings high up on the mountain.
Finally, I tried my best to get a closer shot of the buildings. It was far and high up, like I said.
The weather services reckon that, yet another cold front is on its way, and we can only pray that no floods will take place. Especially as this cold front, that will land here in the Cape, will be on its way to the KZN province where they have had severe damages already for the past two years, or maybe even longer. Some of our friends in the KZN province were fortunately unharmed when mudslides destroyed houses on their way down, wiping out roads and infrastructure.
South Africans are hardy and resilient people, and they will simply repair the damages and carry on with their lives.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

These are gorgeous photos. The pictures of the mountains remind me of Big Bend National Park in far west Texas!
Thank you, and glad that I could stir your memories.
