Having fun with chickens.

This lady decided to inspect our toasties, and she must be one of the health officers.

Whenever we visit this farm, the uninvited guests seem to swamp us.

A first for us to see one jumping onto the table, as normally they placidly eat the pips that my wife puts out for them. The rooster took the lead and the flock followed him. I am sure that they know us, as my wife always feeds them. But not this time as we could see that they were really hungry. This explains the rash, almost desperation of the hen jumping onto the table. There are many chickens that roam around on the farm, and I have posted some of the others before.
But in here I only focused on the rooster boss.

He rushed towards me as I held some bread out for him.

Then it was my wife's turn, and she gingerly held a crust of bread out to him. Then something humorous took place.

We cracked up with laughter, as a hen jumped up to grab the crust. It was the same hen that jumped on the table, and she pulled a highjack move. Lol

Some serious spurs on this rooster, and I wouldn't like to get into a fight with him.

Finally the rooster sounded the departure call, and the flock followed him.

We like to visit places at odd hours when there are no other people around, as then the animals are calm, and we also love the silence. I am a quiet guy, and I talk more here on hive than anywhere else. My wife is the same and we believe that there is strength in silence. On this occasion we didn't stay long, as soon as the chickens left a guy made a racket with a grass edge cutter and so our peace was broken.

But let me tell you that it is wonderful to sit in the silence and to watch nature's residents, like birds, mammals, and insects doing their thing in their normal lives. One can learn much from them, for as soon as crowds arrive, they all disappear. A habit that we also have. It is not that we are scared of people or that we want to avoid them, the thing is that we work with needy people most times and the stresses are taxing. So, we like to just be, at times.
Such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

The spurs on that rooster look deadly! My roos have nice sized ones but I've never seen any that long. I do love that cheeky hen as we have the same love of bread lol

Yep, real dangerous spurs and that's why he rules with an iron fist (spur) !LOL
Ha, the hen's snatching of the bread had an unexpected effect on both my wife and the rooster. Too late my wife snatched her hand away, and the rooster jumped backwards. Great that your chickens also love bread.

Wow, the chicken looks really cool, just like in the photo of the wind oil, but the different colors are incredibly beautiful ❤️🙏

We also enjoy the colors of the chickens, as there are many of them with a variety of colors. Glad that you like the colors of the one in the post.
