Finding bugs in a culvert.
After the rain, a little Wagtail was hunting for bugs next to the road.
I have a few bird species in here to show you what they do when they come out of hiding, after some heavy rain, and a cold wind. We are well into winter here, and it is said that July is our coldest month. Nowadays we have discovered that winter is coupled to age, as every winter feels colder, and the pains of one's old injuries gets a bit more pronounced :)
But getting back to the birds, I have the habit of watching their lifestyles, and often I discover some interesting actions that are very similar to our human actions. It only tells me that nature has always been a teacher, and for instance the swallows taught the ancient people how to build their huts with mud. All life on earth loves water, as water is life, and without it life will cease to exist.
Now let's have a look at some other birds.
The Goose was a plumber, and he was inspecting the roof of his house for leaks.
3 Pied crows were rushing to work, as they were late due to a block in the traffic.
The rock pigeon sat wrapped in its speckled blanket, waiting for things to become warmer.
And finally, here are some tough birds, as the spur fowls are hardly troubled by the weather conditions.
We heard on the radio this morning, that even though this winter feels colder, the temperatures are actually higher than last year's winter. Imagine that? Either someone is smoking something when they say this, or it is psychological for us that it is colder. I don't know about you, but I definitely know that things feel colder. Sadly, we have many floods again in the lower lying areas, and so many people have again lost their houses and all their possessions. We even had 100 deaths in the Eastern Cape floods. Thankfully, our emergency services are on the ball, as many lives were also saved.
Such is life.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

Despite it being winter, the variety of birds active in these parts is interesting.
Oh, and about the bones and the cold, a little warm-up exercise at dawn would be good!
Big hugs!
Oh yes, we still have many local bird species here during winter, as they don't migrate.
I have to be very careful of exercises, but yes, I do some that are not strenuous.

Excellent!
That’s great!
Big hugs!
I loved the photos and the story. Sometimes I think that many of the things we humans have done, we've done by observing birds and what surrounds us, like the bullet train in Japan, which is based on the example of the kingfisher, which is a bird. The weather has also changed due to climate change. I'm glad the emergency services in your area are alert and that nothing happened to you. The post is very beautiful. Also, something I remember is that after the storm comes the calm. That's why the birds also come out after these events; they are truly magnificent.
Thank you, and the helicopter was designed from the flight of a dragonfly. A USA stealth bomber was done from a peregrine falcon. On and on one, can find the examples of mankind and nature working together. Another example is a mud hut, by using the design of a swallow's mud nest.
Amazing how the birds know exactly when to appear during the quick rain breaks. !LOL

I agree, birds are amazing. It's always great to get outside and learn a little about animals, and then use them in positive ways, like the bullet train and many others.
I loved it. The photos and story. Their ability to withstand the weather is wonderful

Always fun watching birds hunting for bugs
Maybe it just feels colder because of the wetness? Floods and people are never a good combination 😢
Everyone here is talking about it, as we are really having weird weather here. Agreed, and sadly the floods continue to occur every year.
